Bass Still On The Lou Henson Mid-Season Watch List

Lou Henson Mid-Season Watch List Release

BOSTON (1/8/2016) --
Sophomore Paris Bass was selected to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List and he is still a candidate for the award as he was recently named to the Mid-Season Watch List.

Bass missed the first seven games, but has returned in a big way netting three 20-point games with five of his six outings in double figures. He is averaging 18.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in his six games, which would rank third in the Horizon League in scoring, tied for ninth in assists and 10th in rebounding if he had enough games to qualify.

He started his season with 25 points and eight rebounds in the win against Bowling Green and then tallied 23 points in just 21 minutes of action in the triumph over UCF.

He is also coming off his first double-double of the season – and fifth of his career – with a career-best 28 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in the victory over Cleveland State.

He is one of four Horizon League players on the list joining Oakland's Kay Felder, Milwaukee's Matt Tiby and Valparaiso's Alec Peters.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.

The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who coached 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.

The recipient of the 2016 award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Award Presentation on April 1 in Houston, site of the men's Division I national championship.
