DETROIT (11/2/2016) -- Two Titan alums will be on the radar for the NBA as
Brandan Kearney and
Ray McCallum have each earned a spot on the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) teams.
Kearney is on the preliminary tryout roster for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, an affiliate for the Miami Heat, while McCallum will suit up for the Grand Rapids Drive, an affiliate of the Detroit Pistons.Â
Kearney has played in Canada the last two years as part of the NBDL Canadian Basketball Association. He played for the Titans for one season, 2014-15, and appeared in all 33 games with 13 starts and averaged 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. A top-100 recruit coming out of high school, he started his collegiate career at Michigan State before transferring to Arizona State and Detroit Mercy.Â
McCallum was with the Pistons during training camp this year and has played in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies.Â
Originally selected by Sacramento in the second round (36th overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft, the former University of Detroit Mercy Titan has appeared in a total of 154 NBA games in his three-year career, averaging 6.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 rebounds. He also owns a 2.3-to-1 assist to turnover ratio while recording 79 steals and 27 blocks.Â
The 2013 Horizon League Player of the Year and a Lute Olson All-American, he led the Titans to a Horizon League championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012 and a NIT appearance in 2013.Â
