DETROIT (11/6/2016) -- Get ready for an action-packed week of basketball as the University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's basketball teams will officially open up their 2016-17 seasons on Friday, Nov. 11.
The men's team will start the year at home against Adrian College, while the women's team will be on the road at Delaware State.
A week-long publicity campaign started on Saturday morning with men's head coach
Bacari Alexander '99 appearing on
WXYZ and TV 20 Detroit to talk about the special Veterans Day promotion for Nov. 11. The Titans have "joined forces" with the Michigan Veterans Foundation and all veterans and active military members, with proper ID, can receive free tickets in advance or on game day and an additional ticket for a friend or family member. Others in the group can purchase tickets for half-price.
Here is how the rest of the week shapes out:
Sunday, Nov. 6 – Coach Alexander will be a guest of Jamie Edmonds on WDIV NBC 4's Sports Final Edition. The segment will air after the football game around 11:30 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 7 – Men's basketball will host its final exhibition of the season against Ferris State. Admission is
FREE for all fans and the game will tip at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 8 – Coach Alexander will be a guest of
Cliff Russell on 910 AM Superstation at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 9 – The Second Titan Luncheon of the year will feature coach Alexander and head women's basketball coach
