Titans Welcome Broncos to Calihan Hall on Saturday

DETROIT (12/9/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team continues its swing against the Mid-American Conference on Saturday, hosting Western Michigan University for a 1 p.m. contest from Calihan Hall. It's the third game of four against the MAC this season.

The game is set to be streamed live on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Application and may be seen locally on WADL TV-38 with the Voice of Titan women's basketball, Denny Kapp, calling all of the action.

Saturday's game against the Broncos is the Kid's Christmas Party inside Calihan Hall were all kids get into the game for free. The contest is also Detroit Mercy Coaches Day with the Titan coaches being honored during the game with Western Michigan.

Titan News & Notes
• Detroit Mercy set a single-game school record with 16 3-pointers at Minnesota. It topped the previous record of 15, set during the 2014-15 season.
• The Titans have also set new highs in the Bernard Scott era in the past two games -- 31 free throws made (at Eastern Michigan) and 25 assists (at Minnesota).
• Senior Rosanna Reynolds is seventh all-time in career scoring with 1,383 points. She is 42 points away from sixth place all-time on the Titan scoring list. Reynolds is third all-time in career assists with 443, eight away from second place and 72 from being the leader.
• Detroit Mercy ranks first in the Horizon League in defensive rebounds per game (30.9), 3-pointers made per game (8.2) and blocked shots per game (4.20).
• The Titans are second in field goal defense (37.4) and third in scoring offense (73.2 points) in the HL.
• Reynolds ranks fifth in the league in scoring (17.4 ppg), first in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2), second in assists per game (5.4) and seventh in steals (2.2).
• Kelsey Mitchell leads the team in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game (ninth in the HL) off the bench and ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 54.7 percent (29-for-53).
• Three current Titans are in the top 11 all-time in 3-pointers made -- Nicole Urbanick (8th, 142), Haleigh Ristovski (10th, 132) and Reynolds (11th, 124).
• Nicole Urbanick ranks second in the HL in 3-pointers made per game (2.1) and Haleigh Ristovski is fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (40.5).
• Reynolds is the top active scorer in the Horizon League with her 1,383 points, which is also 30th in the NCAA among active players. She is also the active HL leader in assists with 443, which is 14th in the country among active players in Division I.
• Over its past seven games, Detroit Mercy has recorded 35 blocks after opening the season with three in the first two contests.
• Detroit Mercy is out-scoring its opponents 182-149 in the first quarter this season. Overall in the first half, the Titans have a 331-292 scoring advantage.
• The Titans are 2-0 against the Mid-American Conference this season and are in the middle of a three-game stretch against the MAC. Detroit Mercy defeated Kent State and Eastern Michgan both by double digits.

Last Time Out
Detroit Mercy led nearly wire-to-wire in a 77-64 victory at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night. Senior guard Rosanna Reynolds tallied her second career 30-point game during the contest, shooting 11-of-16 from the field and adding eight rebounds, five steals and five assists. 

The Titans shot 31-of-41 from the free throw line. The 31 free throw makes were the most since sinking 31 on Feb. 28, 2002 and the 41 attempts were the most since a game against Marquette in 1991.

Junior Brianne Cohen made 12-of-16 free throws and scored 16 points, while Anja Marinkovic added 13.

All-Time Series / Scouting Western Michigan
Detroit Mercy is 14-16 in 30 all-time meetings with the Broncos, in a series that began in 1979. The Titans are 9-6 in home games against the Broncos and are 3-3 in the past six contests against WMU.

The Titans fell to the Broncos, 70-66, in Kalamazoo last season despite four Detroit Mercy players scoring in double figures. Rosanna Reynolds had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Brianne Cohen added 16 points off the bench. Brittney Jackson (11 points) and Nicole Urbanick (14 points) were also in double figures.

The Broncos are on a five-game win streak entering Saturday's game, earning wins over UMKC, Eastern Kentucky, North Dakota State, Loyola-Chicago and Fort Wayne. WMU's two losses this season are to Michigan and Michigan State.

Marley Hill leads the team in scoring at 17.3 points per game, while Breanna Mobley is averaging 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest. Meredith Shipman leads the squad with 12 3-pointers and Deja Wimby is the team leader in assists with 48 and steals with 22.

Marinkovic Named Freshman of the Week
Freshman guard Anja Marinkovic was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week on Monday after turning in a 29-point performance at Minnesota on Saturday. She was 11-of-19 from the floor and 7-for-11 from beyond the arc. It was her first career weekly honor from the Horizon League. Her 29 points tied the best for a Detroit Mercy this season equaling Rosanna Reynolds' 29 points in the season opener at Delaware State.

Marinkovic's 29 points is the best point total for a Horizon League freshman this season and her seven 3-pointers are the most of any player in the league for a single-game this year.

Moving On Up
Senior guard Rosanna Reynolds began the season 15th on the all-time scoring list and is quickly moving up the list as she is up to seventh place with 1,383 points. She is 42 points away from sixth place. Reynolds also reached the 400-assist plateau, becoming the fourth player in school history to do so and is eight assists away from second place in career helpers. In her start against Bradley, Reynolds became the sixth player in school history to start in 100 career games.

Senior Haleigh Ristovski is also moving up in the Titan record books, having moved into the top 10 in rebounds. She ranks seventh all-time with 670 caroms. Ristovski is also 10th in career 3-pointers made (132) and total blocks (77).

Titan NCAA Ranks
Detroit Mercy is among the national leaders in 3-pointers made, ranking 19th overall with 74 triples made and 35th at 8.2 treys made per game. The Titans are 14th in the country in defensive rebounding (31.0 per game), 53rd in turnovers per game (14.1) and 84th in blocks per game (4.2). Detroit Mercy is also 69th in the country in scoring offense (73.2 points per game).

Individually, Rosanna Reynolds is in the top 100 in several statistical categories and leads the Horizon League with 49 assists, which ranks 33rd nationally. She is 40th in the country at 5.4 assists per game. Reynolds is also in the top 35 in both free throws made and free throws attempted. Nicole Urbanick is 91st in the NCAA in 3-point field goals made (19).
