Detroit Prepares for Wright State on Saturday

DETROIT (2/19/2016) --
The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team will look to get back on track Saturday afternoon, when the Titans visit Wright State for a 3 p.m. contest at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. The game is set to be streamed live on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN Applications.

The game pits two of the top four teams in the Horizon League with Detroit currently in fourth place at 8-6 in the Horizon League standings and Wright State at 10-3 in league play. Titans are 5-2 in Horizon League road contests under first-year head coach Bernard Scott.

Detroit is coming off a loss in its most recent road outing, falling 81-60 at Northern Kentucky on Thursday. Wright State is on a five-game winning streak, which includes a home win over Oakland in its last game on Thursday.

Titans Drop Road Contest at Northern Kentucky
Junior Rosanna Reynolds scored a team-best 18 points and freshman Lola Ristovski posted her second-straight game in double figures with 13 points, but the Titans fell on the road at Northern Kentucky on Thursday, 81-60. It was just the second meeting between the two teams as the Norse joined the Horizon League prior to the 2015-16 academic year.

It was just the second loss during the Horizon League season on the road. Detroit trailed by double figures by halftime and NKU never relinquished the lead the rest of the game. Detroit had nine steals in the game, three each by Haleigh Ristovski and Reynolds. Lola Ristovski sank 3-of-5 triple attempts. Reynolds led the Titans with four assists and led Detroit with six rebounds. With the 13 points, Lola Ristovski had posted 30 points in her last two games, hitting 8-of-11 3-point shots.

Reynolds moved into 17th all-time on the Detroit women's basketball scoring list, moving past Lindsay Pasquinzo. It was the sixth time this season that Detroit has shot 80 percent or better from the free throw line. The nine steals tied a season-high. Detroit also had nine steals against Salem International and Eastern Michigan.

• The Titans are 12-2 when shooting 40 percent or better this season and 6-0 when reaching 80 points.
• Detroit has three players in the top 10 of the Horizon League in scoring in Reynolds (fifth, 16.0 ppg), Cohen (eighth, 14.0 ppg) and Urbanick (ninth, 13.5 ppg).
Rosanna Reynolds ranks first in the Horizon League and seventh in the NCAA in free throw percentage (88.9).
• Detroit has made 195 triples this year, which is tied-for-fourth all-time in team history. Only three other years has Detroit connected on 200 3-pointers.
Nicole Urbanick is the fastest player in team history to reach 100 career 3-pointers. She did so in 46 games. She leads the HL in 3-pointers made this season with 68.
• In conference-only games, Detroit leads the league in field goal percentage (42.9), 3-point field goal percentage (35.3), ranks second in free throw percentage (75.0) and is third in scoring offense (69.9).
• Detroit is 9-2 when holding its opponent to 69 points or fewer. Detroit's losses came in league play against Green Bay and UIC.
• The Titans are 24th in the country in 3-pointers made per game (7.8). Detroit has made 195 triples this year.
• UDM is first in the Horizon League in fewest turnovers per game at 13.8.
• Three Titans have reached 100 career 3-pointers this season after Nicole Urbanick sank her 100th at Green Bay. Rosanna Reynolds and Haleigh Ristovski also hit the century mark this year. The trio are the 12th, 13th and 14th players in team history to hit that plateau.
Nicole Urbanick leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (2.7). She has led the league throughout the HL season. She is 25th in the NCAA in total 3-pointers made.
• Rosanna Reynold's 10 assists vs. Valparaiso was a career-high. She is third in the league with 4.7 assists per game and first in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0). She has reached the 100-assist plateau for the third time in her career this season.
• Detroit already has surpassed its blocks output from last year. The Titans have swatted 94 shots this season, good for third in the Horizon League. Haleigh Ristovski leads the squad with 28 blocked shots.

Scouting Wright State
The Raiders are winners in their past five games and have a 10-3 record this season at the Nutter Center. Wright State is coming off a, 79-63 victory over Oakland, out-scoring the Golden Grizzlies 28-13 in the final quarter. Wright State is currently in the No. 2 spot in the Horizon League standings behind Green Bay. Wright State is first in the league in scoring offense (78.0 ppg) and rebounding (47.1 rpg).

Senior guard Kim Demmings leads the Horizon League in scoring at 20.9 points per game. She is second in the league behind Nicole Urbanick with 67 triples made. Emily Vogelpohl and Antania Hayes also average in double figures for the Raiders at 12.2 and 12.1 points per game, respectively. Vogelpohl leads the team with 96 assists and 64 steals. Richelle van der Keijl leads the squad in rebounding at 8.5 boards per contest and leads the HL with 59 blocks.

Last Time Out vs. WSU
Brianne Cohen and Rosanna Reynolds each tallied 19 points for the Titans, but Wright State had four players in double figures -- led by Demmings' 25 points -- as the Raiders earned an 89-71 victory over the Titans on Jan. 14. Detroit did bring down 43 rebounds in the contest, just one shy of Wright State's 44.

Detroit shot 39 percent for the game, but was just 4-of-21 from beyond the arc during the contest. Three of those 3-pointers came from Reynolds. Chea Taylor had the best game of her young career against the Raiders, totaling 16 points and nine rebounds, both career bests, in the loss. Emily Vogelpohl made all five 3-pointers against the Titans, tallying 19 points for Wright State.

All-Time Series
Detroit is 25-23 all-time against Wright State, which includes a 10-12 record in games played in Dayton. The Titans have dropped their last five games with WSU, last earning a road victory in Dayton on Jan. 16, 2013 in an 86-76 victory at the Nutter Center. Detroit is 2-3 in its past five games on the road against Wright State.

Detroit prepares for its final Horizon League road contest of the regular season, visiting Metro Series rival Oakland on Saturday, Feb. 27 for a 3 p.m. battle with the Golden Grizzlies. The final two regular season games are at home for the Titans, as Detroit hosts Green Bay on March 3 and Milwaukee on March 5 at Calihan Hall.
