YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (2/28/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Sunday afternoon with a sixth-place finish from WATTS in Youngstown, Ohio.
The Titans were in seventh with 11 points after day one and earned 31 points on Sunday to jump into sixth position with 42 total points. Oakland edged Youngstown State for the title with a 159-155 edge in points.
Junior
Ashley Bayles placed fifth and earned four points in the shot put with a toss of 13.49 meters.
Sophomore
Sydnie Fetherolf earned a point in the mile run after finishing eighth in a season best 5:14.15.
Senior
Aisha Potts-Tyre began the day with an 11th-place showing in the triple jump after clearing 10.86 meters. She then finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles to earn four points with a time of 9.12.
Freshman
Natalie Vizard improved by two-tenths of a second in the 400-meter finals and crossed the line in sixth to earn three points, with a Detroit rookie record time of 58.12.
Senior
Allison Garner and freshman
A.J. Carnathan both earned points in the 60-meter dash finals after finishing fifth and sixth. Garner clocked in at 7.84, followed closely by Carnathan with a personal record of 7.86.
Garner added a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash for an additional four points, with a time of 25.42.
Junior
Devon Sutton led the Titans in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:57.62.
The Detroit foursome of
Kye Dozier,
Jayona Dent,
Elizabeth Mullen and
Natalie Vizard wrapped up the day with a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, crossing the line in 3:52.77.
The Titans take a break before returning to action in the outdoor season on April 1 at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
