DETROIT (2/5/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics will be hosting a pair of community service incentives over the next few weeks, all to help out the residents of Flint and the surrounding communities affected by the water crisis.

Starting today, the University will turn into a drop off center for all those looking to donate cases of bottled water or monetary contributions for Flint. The Titans will accept donations at Calihan Hall and members of the men's and women's basketball team and staff members will deliver the water to the city of Flint.

The Titans have a couple of athletes who have been directly affected by the water crisis. Senior men's basketball player Anton Wilson hails from Flint and his family still lives there as they battle this crisis every day, while sophomore Chea Taylor of the women's team had family that lived in the Flint area. Both athletes have also started GoFundMe pages to raise money to purchase more water.

Donations received by Feb. 22 will benefit Wilson and Taylor's initiative to provide relief to the Flint community. Donations received at Calihan Hall from Feb. 23 to Mar. 19 will go towards the UDM campus initiative of supporting Detroit Sip and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Flint.

The Detroit strength and conditioning department will also host its 6th Annual Cardio for a Cause from Feb. 10-11. The event will take place in Calihan Hall at 8 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 10, and will end during the men's basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 11.

During Cardio for a Cause, individuals will ride a stationary bike in 10-minute increments for 24-straight hours, that's right the bike will remain continuous for 24-straight hours. Staff members, student-athletes, fans, media and celebrities have traditionally taken part in event. During the women's game at 11 a.m., on Feb. 11 and later that night during the men's game, the bike will be stationed on Dick Vitale Court.

Those interested in making a donation or sponsoring a student-athlete, coach, or staff member can click here (please remember to select Strength and Conditioning Department and write in the person's name you are making the donation to).

A portion of all the money raised during Cardio for a Cause will go to the Flint water crisis.
