YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (2/5/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team will look to continue its recent road success on Saturday, visiting Youngstown State for a 4:30 p.m. contest at the Beeghly Center. The game is set to be streamed live on ESPN3.com and is the opener of a doubleheader with the Titan men's basketball squad against the Penguins.
Detroit (10-11, 6-4 Horizon League) is coming off a 66-60 victory over Cleveland State to complete the season sweep against the Vikings. The Titans improved to 4-1 in Horizon League road contests in the win. The triumph was the second this year for head coach
Bernard Scott against his old team. Scott spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Cleveland State, including most recently as associate head coach.
Youngstown State (15-6 overall) is tied with Detroit for fourth place in the Horizon League at 6-4 entering Saturday's game. Detroit played the Penguins in the HL opener this season and led most of the contest, but YSU used a comeback effort for a 72-70 win in Detroit on Jan. 2.
Titans Top Vikings, 66-60, in Coach Scott's HomecomingRosanna Reynolds scored a game-high 26 points and
Brianne Cohen added a career-high-tying 21 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team improved to 4-1 in Horizon League road games with a 66-60 victory over host Cleveland State.
Haleigh Ristovski pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds for Detroit (10-11 overall). The Titans shot 45.5 percent for the contest, including a 51 percent clip in the first half. The also Titans had the rebound advantage in the game, 45-34. Cohen sank her first eight shots of the game and finished 9-of-12 from the field. Reynolds shot 10-of-14 from the floor as the pair combined to shoot 19-of-26 for Detroit.
The UDM defense held CSU to just 30.2 percent shooting for the game. The Vikings were also held in check from downtown, sinking 8-of-27 treys for a 29.6 percentage. The Titans, which entered the game leading the HL in fewest turnovers per game at 13.5, had an uncharacteristic 21 turnovers in the contest as CSU had the advantage in steals, 13-5. Both teams finished with two blocks, while Detroit had advantages in points in the paint (36-18) and second-chance points (15-8).

Rosanna Reynolds has made her last 22 free throws dating back to Detroit's Jan. 11 game at UIC. She leads the Horizon League in FT shooting at 89.5 percent (77-for-86). Reynolds ranks sixth in the NCAA with her FT percentage. Her 77 makes also leads the HL.

• In conference-only games, Detroit ranks second in the league in scoring offense (71.4 ppg), field goal percentage (43.5), FT percentage (75.4) and 3-pointers made per game (8.3).

Haleigh Ristovski leads the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2). She led the HL and ranked 11th in the nation last year in the same category. She has 37 assists to 13 turnovers (2.8 ratio) in 10 HL contests.
• Rosanna Reynold's nine assists vs. Oakland tied a career-high. She is third in the league with 4.6 assists per game and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0).
• Detroit has three players in the top 10 in scoring in Reynolds (fourth, 16.5 ppg), Urbanick (eighth, 14.8 ppg) and Cohen (10th, 13.4 ppg).
• The Titans have scored 70 or more points in seven of 10 Horizon League games this season.
All-Time SeriesDetroit is 20-18 all-time against the Penguins, which includes a 6-13 mark on the road against YSU. Detroit has dropped the last three games against Youngstown State. The Titans' last victory against the Penguins came on Jan. 28, 2015, when Detroit earned a 59-58 win at the Beeghly Center. In its past 16 contests against YSU, Detroit is 10-6 overall, dating back to the 2009 season.

Both teams finished with 34 rebounds in the game. YSU shot 51.5 percent in the second half of the contest. Sarah Cash led the way for the Penguins with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Scouting Youngstown StateThe Penguins are 6-4 in the Horizon League and 15-6 overall this year. Youngstown State is 10-2 in games played at the Beeghly Center this season. YSU is closing out a four-game homestand in its game with Detroit. The Penguins are 3-4 in their past seven games and have league losses to Northern Kentucky, Valparaiso, Cleveland State and Green Bay.
The game features two of the top 3-point shooters in the conference in
Nicole Urbanick for Detroit (61 triples) and Nikki Arbanas for YSU (54 treys). Overall, Arbanas averages 11.4 points per game and hits 37.2 percent of her 3-point tries. Sarah Cash leads the team at 15.8 points per game, while also pulling down 7.3 rebounds per contest. Indiya Benjamin leads the HL in assists (113), while making 41.3 percent of her 3-point opportunities. Janae Jackson adds 6.3 boards per game for the Penguins, while Cash leads the squad in blocks (25) and steals (30). Cash is also making 63 percent of her shots this year to lead the HL.
Up NextThe Titans return home for a pair of contests next week, beginning with an 11 a.m. Thursday matchup against UIC at Calihan Hall. The game will be the inaugural Field Trip Day with several area schools taking in the game against the Flames. Detroit hosts Valparaiso on Saturday for its Pink Game and Homecoming at noon. The two home games are the only at home during the month of February for the Titans.
