HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (4/24/2016) -- Juniors Sarah Thompson and Brooke Sharpe were both in the top 25 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team wrapped up play at the Horizon League Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Detroit finished in seventh place with a 990 (328-329-333) at the Par 72, 6,026-yard Las Colinas Course at the Mission Inn Resort in Florida.

Thompson tied for 10th for her third top-10 effort of the season and ninth of her career as she finished with a 239 (80-82-77). The Titan captain ended the event with her best round carding a 77 as she parred nine of her last 10 holes. On the day, she had 13 pars and a birdie and led UDM with 29 total pars in the tournament. 

She also finished in the top 10 in the field in Par 4 (+15, 4.53) and Par 5 (+2, 5.17) scoring average. 

Sharpe shared 21st by recording a 248 (81-81-86), beating her HL Championship score of last season by eight strokes. Sharpe had eight pars and a birdie in round three and led the Titans with four birdies on the weekend. 

Junior Alexandra LeBlanc tied for 30th with a 254 (81-86-87), besting her score on the course by 22 shots from last year. She tapped in six pars on the final 18 and had 23 pars with a birdie in the event.  

Junior Sarah Montone posted a 255 (91-80-84), shaving seven strokes off her card from last season as she shared 32nd. She added 10 pars in her final round and ended the tournament second on the team with 23 pars while adding two birdies.

Freshman Erica Heath tied for 37th in her first championship appearance as she totaled 21 pars and a birdie in her 54 holes.

The young Titan team featured no seniors and is set to return all five starters and eight golfers on the roster.
