Reynolds Tabbed Co-HL Winter Scholar-Athlete Of The Year

INDIANAPOLIS (5/6/2016) -- For the second-straight athletic season, a Titan earned high academic praise from the Horizon League as University of Detroit Mercy junior Rosanna Reynolds was named the Co-Winter Scholar-Athlete of the Season.

She shares the winter season accolade with fellow basketball player Kim Demmings of Wright State. In the fall, Detroit's men's cross country sophomore Ben Kendell was the Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Reynolds – who was just named to the Horizon League Winter All-Academic Team for the second-straight season – has a 3.74 GPA in Accounting as she is enrolled in the five-year MBA program. One of the Titan captains, she was named First Team All-Horizon League after helping Detroit Mercy to a fourth-place finish.

The two-time All-Horizon League standout started all 30 games and led the Titans in scoring at 15.6 points per game along with 149 assists and 40 steals. Reynolds was also second in rebounding (5.9) and field goal percentage (.434) and third in blocks (20). She also notched double figures in scoring in 25 of her 30 contests, including six 20-point games.

She ended the year third in the Horizon League in assists, sixth in scoring and second in both free throw percentage (87.2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1).

Reynolds became just the 20th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau and is currently 15th in school history with 1,226 points.

The academic honor is one of several she has earned on the season. She was a member of the Detroit Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the fourth time in her career back in January and just last month, she took home the Titan Club Award at the annual athletic banquet, presented to a male and female student-athlete on the merits of athletic performance and academic excellence.
