INDIANAPOLIS (6/29/2016) -- Eighty-three University of Detroit Mercy student-athletes were named to the 2015-16 Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

To be eligible for the honor roll, each student-athlete must have completed three semesters as a full-time student at the institution, participate in a Horizon League-sponsored sport and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or above at the end of the current semester.

The Titans' 83 honorees was up from the fall semester when Detroit had 81 members earn the achievement. All eight members of the men's golf squad earned their way onto the honor roll, while the Titan men's soccer team led the league in that sport for the second-straight semester with 15 honorees.

Women's golf had five honorees which was tied for the most in the league. The Titan women's track and field and cross country program combined had the second most recipients, garnering 14 honors. In men's soccer, Detroit Mercy had 15 of the 68 honorees overall across the Horizon League. The Titan women's soccer squad (13) and the men's track and field and cross country team (11) also had double-digit members earn the accolade.

Eight Titan softball players received the academic laurel, while four members of both the women's basketball and women's tennis squads had 3.20 GPAs or better.

The 83 recipients for the Titans also marked the most for a semester since the Horizon League started handing out academic honors for each semester. It was the fourth-straight semester that Detroit Mercy has put 80 or more student-athletes on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, despite not competing in four of the Horizon League-sponsored sports.
