DETROIT (6/30/2016) -- Two former Titan stars will get a chance to show off their skills to NBA scouts and coaches as Juwan Howard Jr. '15 and Nick Minnerath '13 have both signed to play in the NBA Summer League.

Howard Jr. will suit up with the Miami Heat and play in the Orlando Pro Summer League from July 2-8 and the Las Vegas Pro League from July 8-18, while Minnerath has signed with the New Orleans Pelicans and play in Las Vegas. 

It is the second-straight year that Howard Jr., will play for the Heat, who are coached by his dad and former Michigan standout Juwan Howard. He saw action in six games in the NBA Summer League in 2015 and had his best outing with 10 points, three assists and a rebound in 19 minutes against the Detroit Pistons.

He spent this past year playing with Café Candelas Breogan of the Spanish League. He played at Detroit Mercy from 2012-2015 and was a two-time All-Horizon League Second Team honoree and two-time NABC All-District Second Team selection, helping the Titans reach the NIT in 2013. He tallied 1,404 points, good for 18th in school history, including 17.5 points per game as a senior, second in the Horizon League. 

Minnerath spent three years at Detroit Mercy from 2010-2013, playing alongside Howard Jr., on the 2013 NIT squad. This is his third NBA Summer League appearance as he played with Sacramento in 2013 and Brooklyn in 2014. His professional career has seen him play for Obradoiro CAB of Spain and STB Le Havre and Cholet Basket in France from 2013-15.

In 2015-16, he was signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers and played in three preseason games before spending the full season with the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League as an affiliate player of the Cavaliers. He had a tremendous year in Canton, earning All-NBDL Second Team accolades and leading the team to a franchise-record 31 victories. He was second on the team in scoring (18.5) and rebounding (6.9), while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from behind the arc. 

Minnerath was tabbed All-Horizon League First Team as a senior when he finished fifth in the league in scoring at 14.6 points per game, while also leading the Titans on the boards with 5.9 rebounds per game. In 71 career games, he posted 913 points and 374 rebounds, missing most of the 2011-12 year due to a knee injury.
