DETROIT (9/27/2016) -- Come cheer on the Titans in a Metro Series women's soccer game against Oakland and then get ready for an early glimpse of the men's and women's basketball teams as the University of Detroit Mercy hosts its annual "Hoop Night in the D," and Metro Series Pep Rally on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
The events are part of a big day on campus. The Metro Series Pep Rally will be held in the afternoon prior to the women's soccer team battling rival Oakland on Titan Field at 3:00 p.m. National Coney Island will be on campus from 2-6 p.m. (during the women's soccer game against Metro-Series rival Oakland) and students will receive
FREE food.
"Hoop Night In The D" is free for all fans and scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., on Dick Vitale Court in Calihan Hall. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. A tailgate precedes the event in the parking lot outside the front entrance of Calihan Hall and will feature food, games and music.
This year's "Hoop Night in the D" will feature the official introduction of the 2016-17 men's and women's basketball team and coaches. The squads will also take part in a scrimmage as well as other skill competitions.
Concessions, prizes and giveaways will also be available at "Hoop Night in the D." Students will have a chance to
win an iPad and as well as an opportunity to be selected to take a half-court shot to
win $5,000.
