INDIANAPOLIS (1/9/2017) -- For the fourth time in her career, University of Detroit Mercy senior guard
Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, Mich. / Divine Child) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
It's the first honor for Reynolds and the Titans in the 2016-17 season.
Reynolds had a standout performance Saturday in an 80-71 victory at Oakland, scoring a season-high 32 points and totaling a season-best 10 rebounds for her second-straight double-double. It was her third career 30-point game and second this season. She helped give Detroit Mercy its first 3-0 Horizon League start since the 2004-05 season.
The Senior Class Award candidate shot 10-of-14 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line in the victory. She was especially efficient in the second half, going 5-for-5 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free throw line for 20 points. She was integral in Detroit Mercy's big run in the fourth quarter, tallying 10 points in the final stanza as the Titans out-scored Oakland by a 27-12 margin.
On the season, Reynolds leads the Titans in scoring at 17.0 points per game and paces the Horizon League in assists per game (5.6). She ranks third in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1), fifth in both scoring and 3-point field goal percentage (39.5) and 10th in steals per game (1.6).
Reynolds continues to climb in the Titan women's basketball record books, passing Hall of Famer Lisa Blackburn on the all-time scoring list and moving into fifth place on Saturday with 1,464 points. Reynolds is in third place in career assists with 473, just 13 in back of Mary Lillie for second place.
The Titans (3-0 Horizon League) return to the court Wednesday in a showdown between the only other league-unbeaten, Green Bay (4-0 HL), in Wisconsin. The opening tip is set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPNÂ Applications from the Kress Center.
