DETROIT (10/4/2017) -- Tickets to the Second Annual City College Series to Benefit Detroit Public Schools K-5 are now on sale as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will host Wayne State in a charity exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m., inside historic Calihan Hall.
Tickets to the game are set at $2 per person and can be purchased now and only in person at Calihan Hall (4001 W. McNichols Road in Detroit).
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Detroit Public Schools K-5 with Michigan First Credit Union contributing a matching donation for all tickets sold.
"This was a great event that was started last year between the two schools as both institutions are committed to giving back and helping the local community," said Detroit Mercy Director of Athletics
Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "With the help of a great partner in Michigan First Credit Union, the event was able to raise over $7,000 for Detroit Public Schools K-5 and we want that number to rise this season."
Last year's game saw over 3,000 people attend the city rivalry and helped raise over $7,000 for the Detroit Public elementary and middle schools. The Warriors got the best of the Titans, 85-79, so the red, white and blue will be in revenge mode with a revamped roster.
"Our credit union was founded by Detroit educators, so to be able to once again partner with the UDM Titans for a fun and friendly competition to raise funds for the classrooms our founders helped establish is truly an honor," said Michigan First President and CEO Michael Poulos. "We know it is important for the youth in our community to cultivate a love of learning from an early age, and a critical component of that is ensuring our educators have the funds needed to purchase the right tools and resources to help students succeed. We challenge the community to fill each seat and take part in this great cause."
