Titans Tabbed Fourth, Allen, Hogan Earn Horizon League Preseason Accolades

INDIANAPOLIS (10/6/2017) -- Just a little over a month away until the regular season begins, but two Titans already have awards on their resume in senior Jaleel Hogan and sophomore Corey Allen as the Horizon League released its annual preseason awards and poll on Friday.

The selections were announced in conjunction with the Horizon League Media Day at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The Titans were tabbed fourth in the HL preseason canvas accumulating 273 points, including one first-place vote. The poll is voted on by the league's head coaches, sports information director's and media members. The Titans were behind only Oakland (453), NKU (414) and UIC (347).

Hogan – a Second Team All-Conference performer a year ago – is coming off a career year in which he tallied 15.2 points per game ad 5.8 rebounds per game, eighth and 11th and in the HL, respectively. He also led the Horizon League and was 23rd in the country in field-goal percentage at 59.1 percent, fourth in school history.

He was in double figures in scoring in 25 of his 30 games played with six 20+ point contests – all in conference play – along with recording five double-doubles. He posted a career-high 39 points with 11 rebounds in a win at Oakland last season, a game that saw him go a career-best 17-of-24 from the field. Some of his other big games included 24 points with 12 rebounds and three blocks against Cleveland State, 22 points and 12 boards at Youngstown State, 28 points and four rebounds against Green Bay and 22 points, a career-high eight blocks and eight boards against NKU

Allen – the HL Freshman of the Year in 2016-17 – was the highest scoring freshman in the league at 14.4 points per game, 11th overall in the conference. He shot 43.9 percent from the field – second on the team – and 44.8 percent from three (78-of-174), leading the Horizon League and finishing fourth in the NCAA in three-point field goal percentage.

He was third in the league and 78th in the nation with 2.60 3-point field goals per game, and his 78 triples on the season were third in the conference and eighth in the school record book. He knocked down a 3-pointer in 26 of his 30 games, including 14 games with three or more, 10 with four or more and four games with five or more. He also was in double-figures in scoring 20 times with nine 20-point games, including a Titan true freshman record of 33 points against Fort Wayne.
