DETROIT (11/21/2017) -- The final game of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project has the University of Detroit Mercy in some familiar territory as the Titans travel to Saint Louis on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Game time is set for 8 p.m. (EST) against the Billikens, a former conference rival of the Titans when the programs were members of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference from 1982-1991.
The contest will be televised live on Fox Sports Midwest (available on most cable outlets with a premium sports package) as well as on the A-10 Digital Network and Fox Sports Go APP. The A-10 Digital Network stream is free, but is blacked out in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. The Titans started the 2K Sports Classic with a loss on the road at Virginia Tech before splitting a pair of games at the Belmont subregional falling to Seattle and defeating Houston Baptist.
Detroit Mercy will be back at home on Saturday, Nov. 25, as the red, white and blue host Siena Heights at 2 p.m., inside historic Calihan Hall.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAINT LOUIS
- The Billikens and the Titans were once conference foes back in the old Midwestern Collegiate Conference days from 1982-1991, but Saint Louis left the league in 1991 to join the Great Midwest Conference, which eventually became known as Conference USA.
- Saint Louis leads the all-time series 29-15, including a 17-4 mark at home.
ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
- Saint Louis is 3-1 on the season with wins over Seattle (62-46), Rockhurst (74-50) and Virginia Tech (77-71), but dropped its last game against Providence 90-63.
- Javon Bess leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game to go with 6.0 rebounds, while Jordan Goodwin is tallying 9.3 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
REACHING 100
- The Titans are coming off a 116-109 victory over Houston Baptist in overtime, the second 100-point game of the season as they scored 105 in the win over UM-Dearborn.
- The 116 points are tied for the 13th most in school history and the most since the Titans beat UM-Dearborn 122-70 in 2015.
- The game also broke Belmont's Curb Event Center record - the site that was hosting the 2K Sports Classic subregional - for most combined points as the 225 points eclipsed the 198 Belmont and Tennessee State tallied in 2016.
- The last time the Titans won a game when both teams scored 100 was in 1989 when they defeated Loyola, 115-101.
- Detroit Mercy has now reached 100 points 93 times in its history.
HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
- The Titans currently rank second in the Horizon League and 30th in the nation in scoring offense at 92.8 points per game.
- Last season, the Titans hit 80 points 12 times and 90 on five occasions, tying for third in the HL in offense at 77.0 ppg., - 85th in the nation.
LET IT FLY
- Detroit Mercy set a school record hoisting up 43 three-point attempts in its last game against Houston Baptist, nailing 12 of them.
- The previous record was 36 against Dayton in 1991.
GETTING SHOTS UP
- The Titans have taken at least 70 field goals in three of their four games, including going 40-of-83 their last time out against Houston Baptist.
- Detroit Mercy also knocked down 40 field goals against UM-Dearborn on Nov. 13.
TAKING ADVANTAGE
- Detroit Mercy has done a great job at the free throw line this season connecting on 75-of-95 for 78.9 percent, second in the HL and 28th in the country.
- The Titans started the year 18-of-22 at Virginia Tech and were 20-of-23 versus Seattle and 24-of-30 against Houston Baptist.
- Some of the top free throw shooters to start the year include Corey Allen (16-of-18), Jermaine Jackson Jr. (19-of-20) and Roschon Price (11-of-13).
I SEE YOU CA
- Sophomore Corey Allen had a slow start to the season on offense, but he broke out in a big way this past weekend at the 2K Sports Classic subregional at Belmont.
- Against Seattle, he tallied 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers.
- In the consolation game against Houston Baptist, he hit his first three triples and ended the game with a career-high and Curb Event Center record 39 points, surpassing the 33 he had at home against Fort Wayne last season.
- Allen - who was named to the All-Tournament Team - was a career-best 12-of-20 from the field and 7-of-13 from long range to go with five rebounds and career-tying five assists.
- The 39 points are the most by a Titan since teammate Jaleel Hogan had 39 in a road win at Oakland last year.
- On the season, he leads the team in scoring at 19.5 points per game shooting 46.3 percent from the field, 48.0 percent from three and 88.9 percent at the free throw line.
JACKSON JR. EARNS HL HONOR
- After connecting on two 3-pointers in the closing seconds to propel the Titans over Houston Baptist and averaging double figures on the week, rookie Jermaine Jackson Jr. was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week this past Monday.
- Jackson Jr. tallied 13.0 points, 5.0 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals in three games. He had 13 points and five assists in the win over UM-Dearborn and then started the weekend with 12 points, two assists and two steals in the match-up with Seattle in the 2K Sports Classic subregional at Belmont.
- He had a big performance against HBU finishing with 14 points, five rebounds and a team and season-high eight assists. He nailed a pair of 3-pointers in the last 10 seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime, including the game-tying, step-back triple with just one second left on the clock.
JALEEL NEARING 1,000
- Senior Jaleel Hogan has 974 career points and is now just 26 away from becoming the 41st member of the Titan 1,000-point club.
WHAT A DEBUT FOR CHATMAN
- Redshirt junior Kameron Chatman had a great Titan debut as the former UM transfer led the team with 23 points at Virginia Tech.
- He was 9-of-12 from the field, including hitting all four of his 3-pointers, while registering seven boards, two steals and a block.
- Chatman's career high was 13 as a sophomore for Michigan against Rutgers.
- The 23 points was the most by a Titan in their debut since Brandon Cotton tallied 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20, 2004.
KAM'S THE MAN
- The Titans needed everyone's help to get the overtime victory over Houston Baptist and junior Kameron Chatman did his part posting his first career double-double with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
- His previous high in rebounds was nine as a freshman at Michigan against Syracuse, while it was the most boards by a Titan since Chris Jenkins had 16 against Fort Wayne last year.
- He is currently averaging 16.5 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds, while shooting 54.2 percent from the field.
A HELPING HAND
- Freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr. finished with a season-high eight assists against Houston Baptist, the most assists by a Titan rookie since Ray McCallum had 10 against UIC in 2011.
THE PRINCE OF DETROIT MERCY
- Graduate senior Roschon Prince has had a nice start to his Titan career scoring in double figures twice with 11 points against UM-Dearborn and Houston Baptist.
- He has grabbed at least five boards in three of the four games with a season-high six against Seattle and is 13-of-22 from the field (59.1%) and 11-of-13 (84.6%) at the charity stripe.
BANG, BANG
- Sophomore Corey Allen and junior Josh combined to post 149, 3-pointers last season, which ranks as the 16th best among returning duo three-point specialist entering the 2017-18 season.
- Allen was third in the league and 78th in the nation with 2.60 three-point field goals per game, and his 78 triples on the season were third in the conference and eighth in the school record book.
- McFolley was second on the Titans and fifth in the HL with 2.3, 3-pointers per game as he connected on a career-best 71 triples, 13th in school history.
WELCOME TO THE SHOW ISAIAH
- Senior Isaiah Jones finally made his collegiate debut after dealing with injuries the last two years.
- He has played in all four games this season and in three minutes of action at the season opener at Virginia Tech, he grabbed two rebounds and had a block. Against Houston Baptist his last time out, he scored his first collegiate points on a layup.
- Jones injured his knee after his sophomore year at junior college and then missed the following season rehabbing. Last year, he reinjured his knee prior to the start of the season and missed the entire year.
BLACKSHEAR JR. ON THE BOARDS
- Junior Gerald Blackshear Jr., was one of the best rebounders in the league when he was on the court last season tallying 4.0 rebounds in just 17.2 minutes of court time.
- Blackshear Jr. pulled down five or more rebounds in 12 games, including a career-high 11 boards at Cleveland State. He also averaged 6.0 points, shooting 61.3 percent from the field in limited touches.
- Against UM-Dearborn, Blackshear Jr., had eight points and seven rebounds in 15 minutes of action. He ended with four points, three rebounds and a career-high three blocks against Seattle before tallying six points and six rebounds versus Houston Baptist.
