Titans, Michigan First Credit Union Team Up To Raise $10,004 For DPS K-5

DETROIT (12/20/2017) -- For the second-straight year, the University of Detroit Mercy and Michigan First Credit Union teamed up for the Annual City College Series to Benefit Detroit Public Schools K-5 and this year's effort helped raise $10,004.

The official check presentation was held this past weekend as Detroit Mercy faced Michigan at Little Caesars Arena.

"The City College Series has proven to be a great event for Detroit Public Schools and the community," said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "We have a great partnership with Michigan First Credit Union and with our friends over at Wayne State. In two years, we have helped raise more than $15,000 for Detroit Public Schools K-5 and we will look to increase that total next year."

Back on Nov. 4, the Titans and Warriors met in historic Calihan Hall and all proceeds from ticket sales were donated to Detroit Public Schools K-5 with Michigan First Credit Union contributing a matching donation for all tickets sold.

The game featured an attendance of 3,089 with 2,501 paid tickets totaling $5,002.

"The City College Series continues to be a positive force in our community, bringing individuals together for a fun evening benefiting our local schools," said Michigan First Credit Union CEO Michael Poulos. "As a credit union founded by Detroit educators with a commitment to giving back, we know the funds raised by attendees and Michigan First will ensure our teachers and students have the resources needed to succeed in and out of the classroom."

In 2016, the game saw over $7,000 raised for DPS K-5.
