DETROIT (12/27/2017) -- The 39th season of Horizon League basketball will tip-off this week as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will be on the road in the Badger State starting with a game at Green Bay on Thursday, Dec. 28.
Game time is set for 8 p.m. (EST), and will be broadcast live on ESPN3 as well as on 910 AM Superstation with
Cliff Russell calling the action.
Detroit Mercy is the eldest program in the Horizon League as the Titans start their 38th season in the conference.Â
The Titans went 4-9 in the non-conference slate against a tough schedule that saw their opponents record a 63.1 winning percentage (89-52). Green Bay went 5-8 in the non-conference campaign with a 5-2 mark at home. Â
Detroit Mercy leads the league in offense at 84.4 points per game with four players in the top 25 in scoring in redshirt junior

After the game, the Titans will close out their Wisconsin road trip by heading to Milwaukee on Saturday before returning home for four-straight league games.Â
ALL-TIME MATCH-UP
- Detroit Mercy has dropped seven of the last eight to Green Bay and trails the all-time series, 28-25.Â
- The Titans have lost five in a row and nine of the last 10 games at the Resch Center and are 8-17 all-time on the road in the series.Â

TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
- The 13 opponents on the Titan non-conference schedule combined to go 257-205 (55.6%) last season, and the 11 DI foes are 89-52 (63.1%) already on the year.Â
- Four of the non-conference opponents earned bids to the NCAA Tournament (East Tennessee State, Michigan, UCLA, Virginia Tech), one to the CBI (Toledo) and two to the CIT (Fort Wayne, Houston Baptist).Â
HL ROAD HISTORY
- The Titans are 15-22 all-time in Horizon League openers and 11-26 in Horizon League road openers.Â
- Detroit Mercy has dropped four-straight HL road openers with its last win coming in 2012-13, a 101-60 victory at Youngstown State.Â
HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
- The Titans currently rank first in the Horizon League and 31st in the nation in scoring offense at 84.4 points per game.Â
- Detroit Mercy has scored at least 71 points in 12 games, including three 100+point efforts.Â
- Last season, the Titans hit 80 points 12 times and 90 on five occasions, tying for third in the HL in offense at 77.0 ppg., - 85th in the nation.Â
OPENING UP LCA
- Detroit Mercy opened up Joe Louis Arena with a game against Michigan in 1979 and just made history again on Dec. 16 by playing Michigan in the first-ever college basketball game at Little Caesars ArenaÂ
- The Titans and Wolverines opened Joe Louis Arena with the first-ever event for the facility on Dec. 12, 1979, in front of over 12,000 fans.
- The game was part of the Hitachi College Basketball Showcase that also saw Oakland face Michigan State and the event saw a LCA record 20, 695 fans attend.

- The Titans have used seven different starting line-ups so far on the season.
- Only redshirt junior Kameron Chatman and freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr. have started all 13 games.Â
TAKING ADVANTAGE
- Detroit Mercy has done a great job at the free throw line this season connecting on 209-of-271 for 77.1 percent, second in the HL and 21st in the country.
- Detroit Mercy has hit 80.0 percent or more at the line in seven games, including 18-of-22 at Virginia Tech, 20-of-23 versus Seattle, 24-of-30 against Houston Baptist, 13-of-15 in the road win at Saint Louis, 20-of-25 at Fort Wayne, 12-of-14 versus Toledo and 17-of-20 against Western Michigan.Â
- Some of the top free throw shooters include Jermaine Jackson Jr. (94.3%, 33-of-35), Kameron Chatman (86.4%, 38-of-44), Â Josh McFolley (82.2%, 37-of-45) and Corey Allen (81.0%, 34-of-42).
- In fact, Jackson Jr. is second in the HL and ninth in the nation at the charity stripe. He recently saw a streak of 17 made in a row before missing one against ETSU.Â
KAM'S THE MAN
- The Titans needed everyone's help to get the overtime victory over Houston Baptist on Nov. 19 and redshirt junior Kameron Chatman did his part posting his first career double-double with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
- His previous high in rebounds was nine as a freshman at Michigan against Syracuse, while it was the most boards by a Titan since Chris Jenkins had 16 against Fort Wayne last year.
- At Saint Louis on Nov. 22, he posted 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals, but his biggest play was the game-winning shot with just one second remaining.
- He tallied his fourth of the year with a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds against ETSU.
- His four double-doubles are tied for fourth in the HL.Â
ANOTHER 30?
- Sophomore Corey Allen tallied his second 30-point game of the season pouring in 32 against Western Michigan on Dec. 9.Â
- He was 12-of-21 overall with five 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the second half.Â
- Earlier this season against Houston Baptist, he poured in a game, career-high and Belmont Curb Event Center record with 39 points, surpassing the 33 he had at home against Fort Wayne last season.
- In that game, he was a career-best 12-of-20 from the field and 7-of-13 from long range to go with five rebounds and career-tying five assists.Â
- The 39 points were the most by a Titan since teammate Jaleel Hogan had 39 in a road win at Oakland last year.
- His two 30-point games are the most since Juwan Howard Jr., had a pair in the 2013-14 season, while the last Titan to have three 30-point contests in a season was Willie Green, who had five during the 2002-03 campaign.
I SEE YOU CA
- Sophomore Corey Allen has been in double figures in all 12 games that he has appeared in this year, with three 20+ contests and a pair of 30+ games.Â
- He has also set a career high in rebounds with six against UM-Dearborn and tied his career best with five assists in a game.Â
- On the season, he is second on the team in scoring at 17.7 points per game - fourth in the HL - and ranks second on the team and third in the league in shooting at 49.0 percent.Â
CHATMAN GOES FOR 31
- Redshirt junior Kameron Chatman continued his strong start to the season tallying a career-high 31 points and collecting 10 rebounds with three steals at Fort Wayne on Nov. 28.Â
- He was a career-best 11-of-15 from the field and 5-of-6 from behind the arc.Â
- He is coming off his fifth 20-point game of the season with exactly 20 against ETSU.Â
- Chatman leads the team and is third in the HL in scoring at 17.9 points and is second in the conference in rebounding at 8.5 per night.Â
JJJ FILLING UP THE STAT SHEET
- Rookie Jermaine Jackson Jr. posted stats all around as a true freshman on the road at Virginia Tech tallying 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists.
- The seven rebounds tied for the team lead, while his six defensive rebounds topped the team.Â
- He just tied his season high for the third time with 16 points against Murray State and has now scored in double digits in nine of the 13 games on the seasonÂ
- Jackson Jr is currently third on the team averaging 11.2 points to go with a team-best 3.6 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.Â
- He also has 47 assists and just 30 turnovers for a 1.6 ratio, sixth in the HL.Â
- Jackson Jr. leads all league rookies in assists and is second in scoring and steals.
REACHING 100
- The Titans reached the 100-point mark for the third time this season with a 131-69 victory over Siena Heights on Nov. 25.Â
- The Titans also reached 100 in a 116-109 victory over Houston Baptist in overtime and a 105-82 win over UM-Dearborn.Â
- The 131 points are the fourth most in school history and the most since tallying a school record 135 against CCNY in 1979.Â
- The 116 points against HBU at the 2K Sports Classic Belmont Subregional broke Belmont's Curb Event Center record for most points.
- Detroit Mercy has now reached 100 points 94 times in its history and the three times in a season is the most since hitting 100 on three occasions during the 1979-80 campaign. Â
LET IT FLY
- Detroit Mercy set a school record hoisting up 43 three-point attempts against Houston Baptist on Nov. 19, nailing 12 of them.
- The previous record was 36 against Dayton in 1991.Â
- Against Siena Heights, Detroit Mercy was 17-of-28 from behind the arc, just one triple shy of tying the school record of 18 against Milwaukee on Feb. 26, 2000.Â
- Detroit Mercy leads the Horizon League and is 54th in the country with 9.4 triples per game.Â
- Last year, the Titans were second in the HL in three-point field goal percentage at 37.2 percent as well as third in the conference with 8.1 treys per game.Â
JALEEL REACHES 1,000
- Senior Jaleel Hogan became the 41st Titan in school history to post 1,000 points as he reached that mark with a basket at Fort Wayne.
- Hogan enters today's game with 1,048 career points, which ranks 37th in school history just 11 behind Larry Salci '68 for 36th.Â
- He registered his first double-double of the season with a season-high 16 points and 10 rebounds against Western Michigan.
- Hogan is currently fifth on the team with 7.9 points per game, while shooting 60.9 percent from the field.Â
FRESHMAN RECORDS
- Freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr. has already established a pair of Titan freshman records with 13 assists and nine steals, achieved in the win over Siena Heights on Nov. 25.Â
- He broke the Titan freshman record of 10 assists by Bill Wood, who did it twice during the 1986-87 season, while the freshman steal record is believed to be five accomplished six times since 1981.Â
ALMOST A TRIPLE-DOUBLE
- Freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr., nearly had the first Titan triple-double since Terry Tyler in 1977 finishing with 16 points, a season-high 13 assists and nine steals against Siena Heights.
- The last Titan to have at least nine steals in a game was when Jerry Davis set a school record with 10 against John Carroll on Dec. 10, 1980, while the 13 assists by Jackson Jr. is the most since Feb. 10, 2000, when Rashad Phillips had 14 at Butler.
- The 13 assists are also tied for the eighth most in school history.Â
A LONG DAY
- Sophomore Cole Long made his first start of the season against ETSU and he made the most of it scoring a career-high 10 points and handing out a career-best four assists.
- He also grabbed three rebounds in 27 minutes of action.Â
PICKING YOUR POCKET
- Junior Josh McFolley is tied for sixth in the Horizon League with 1.54 steals per game.Â
- He has three games on the year with at least three steals, including tying his career high with five against Siena Heights.Â
- In his career, he has recorded a steal in 57 of his 74 career games, including 23 multi-steal contests and 13 with at least three takeaways.
- McFolley led the conference in steals per game (2.00) and total steals (62), ranking 26th and 35th in the NCAA, respectively, last season.
- His 117 career steals has him approaching top 10 status in school history.
MCFOLLEY LEADS THE WAY
- Junior Josh McFolley broke out with 14 points in the first half and finished with 22 in the road victory on Nov. 22.Â
- He totaled 15 points against Siena Heights connecting on three triples and tying his career high with five steals and posted his second 20-point game of the season with a team-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting with three 3-pointers against Toledo on Dec. 6.
- McFolley now has nine career 20-point games along with 133 career 3-pointers, just five away from 10th in school history.Â
WELCOME TO THE SHOW ISAIAH
- Senior Isaiah Jones finally made his collegiate debut after dealing with injuries the last two years.
- He has played in nine games this season - making his first start against ETSU - and in three minutes of action at the season opener at Virginia Tech, he grabbed two rebounds and had a block.Â
- Against Houston Baptist, he scored his first collegiate points on a layup and against Siena Heights, he had six points, three blocks and two boards. He has also blocked three shots in the last two games versus ETSU and Murray State.Â
- Jones injured his knee after his sophomore year at junior college and then missed the following season rehabbing. Last year, he reinjured his knee prior to the start of the season and missed the entire year.
THE PRINCE OF DETROIT MERCY
- Graduate senior Roschon Prince has had a nice start to his Titan career scoring in double figures twice with 11 points against UM-Dearborn and Houston Baptist.
- He is coming off a game where he pulled down a season-best seven boards with four assists and five points against Murray State.Â
- On the season, he is averaging 5.1 points and 3.3 rebounds shooting 52.8 percent (19-of-36) from the field and 74.2 percent (23-of-31) at the line.Â
BLACKSHEAR JR. ON THE BOARDS
- Junior Gerald Blackshear Jr., was one of the best rebounders in the league when he was on the court last season tallying 4.0 rebounds in just 17.2 minutes of court time.Â
- Blackshear Jr. pulled down five or more rebounds in 12 games, including a career-high 11 boards at Cleveland State. He also averaged 6.0 points, shooting 61.3 percent from the field.
- This year against UM-Dearborn, Blackshear Jr. had eight points and seven rebounds in 15 minutes of action. He ended with four points, three rebounds and a career-high three blocks against Seattle before tallying six points and six rebounds versus Houston Baptist.Â
