CLEVELAND (12/30/2017) -- Senior guard Nicole Urbanick became the 22nd player in school history to reach 1,000 career points, tallying 12 points to surpass the milestone Saturday in Detroit Mercy's 75-50 loss at Cleveland State.

Urbanick hit the milestone with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter, driving to the rim and finishing on a tough left-handed lay-up with a CSU defender in her face. Urbanick, who was playing in career game No. 100 for the Titans, had eight first-half points, drilling two 3-pointers. She hit a jumper in the third quarter for career points No. 998 and 999 before surpassing the milestone with her lay-up in the final stanza.

Three Titans were in double figures on the day with sophomore Anja Marinkovic hitting four 3-pointers for 12 points. Senior forward Brianne Cohen nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. It was her 11th double-figure scoring effort for the Titans in 13 games this season.

Detroit Mercy trailed 8-1 early as Cleveland State's Olivia Voskuhl got off the hot start, scoring CSU's first 12 points of the contest. Junior guard Brittney Jackson hit a triple midway through the first stanza and Urbanick followed with one a couple minutes later. Marinkovic beat the first quarter buzzer, swishing a 3-pointer from the corner off an in-bounds play.

The Titans hit five 3-pointers in the first half -- two each from Urbanick and Marinkovic and another by Jackson. Urbanick had eight points in the first half as Detroit Mercy trailed at the break, 39-20.

The red, white and blue scored eight of the first nine points in the second half as Cohen sank a jumper in the paint just one minute into the third quarter and Marinkovic followed with a pair of 3-pointers to pull the Titans to within 12, 40-28, with 7:38 left in the third.

After Cleveland State took a 42-28 lead, the Titans went on a 6-1 run as Urbanick sank a jumper from the wing, sophomore Ashley Miller made a tough turn-around jumper in the paint and Cohen grabbed an offensive board and put it back. The Titans trailed 43-34 with 4:24 left in the third following the run.

The Vikings would go on a run of their own to end the third quarter, however, and take a 58-36 lead entering the fourth quarter. Freshman Lexey Tobel scored four points in a span of four seconds in the fourth quarter as she sank a free throw and off a miss on her second, Miller grabbed a board and dished to Tobel, who had stepped back and hit an open 3-pointer. It was one of a career-high five assists for Miller, who added six rebounds in the contest.

Urbanick grabbed six caroms in the game, while sophomore Zoey Oatis tallied four rebounds, one block and one steal. Jackson hit two 3-pointers off the bench and had six points. Tobel also had six points for Detroit Mercy.

Detroit Mercy hit nine 3-pointers in the game, shooting a season-high 33 shots from beyond the arc. The Titans shot 30.4 percent in the game overall, connecting on 17-of-56 shot attempts. The Titans had 10 offensive boards, but were edged in the rebounding advantage, 41-34.

Cleveland State shot 48.3 percent in the contest (28-for-58) and made 7-of-19 shots from 3-point range.
