DETROIT (12/5/2017) -- "Home Sweet Home" is what the Titans are saying as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will play five-straight games at home starting with a match-up against Toledo on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Game time is set for 7 p.m., and will be televised live on ESPN3 and locally on WADL-38 with
Dan Dickerson and Earl Cureton on the call as well as over the airwaves with
Cliff Russell providing the action on 910 AM Superstation.
Detroit Mercy was on the road for six of its first eight games during a span that saw the Titans visit five different states. The Titans will now have nine of their next 11 in the Motor City with eight games in historic Calihan Hall and one in Little Caesars Arena.Â

ALL-TIME MATCH-UP
- The match-up between the Titans and Rockets is the 58th in this rivalry that dates back to 1920 as Toledo leads the all-time series, 32-25.
- Detroit Mercy has won two of the last three meetings and is 18-11 all-time at home, including winning six of the last seven at Calihan Hall.Â
CALIHAN HALL TURNS 65
- The 2017-18 season marks the 65th anniversary of historic Calihan Hall, the home of the men's and women's basketball teams.
- The dedication of the University's Memorial Building, as it was known back then, took place May 25, 1952. The first basketball game was played Dec. 2 of that year when the U-D men beat Kalamazoo, 75-61.Â
- In 1977, the name was changed to Calihan Hall in honor of the Titans' first basketball All-American, the late Bob Calihan.
TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
- The 14 opponents on the Titan schedule combined to go 257-205 (55.6%) last season
- Four of the non-conference opponents earned bids to the NCAA Tournament (East Tennessee State, Michigan, UCLA, Virginia Tech), one to the CBI (Toledo) and two to the CIT (Fort Wayne, Houston Baptist).Â
REACHING 100
- The Titans reached the 100-point mark for the third time this season with a 131-69 victory over Siena Heights on Nov. 25.Â
- The Titans also reached 100 in a 116-109 victory over Houston Baptist in overtime and a 105-82 win over UM-Dearborn.Â
- The 131 points are the fourth most in school history and the most since tallying a school record 135 against CCNY in 1979.Â
- The 116 points against HBU at the 2K Sports Classic Belmont Subregional broke Belmont's Curb Event Center record for most points.
- Detroit Mercy has now reached 100 points 94 times in its history and the three times in a season is the most since hitting 100 on three occasions during the 1979-80 campaign. Â
HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
- The Titans currently rank first in the Horizon League and 11th in the nation in scoring offense at 91.1 points per game.Â
- Detroit Mercy has scored at least 71 points in all eight games, including three 100+point efforts.Â
- Last season, the Titans hit 80 points 12 times and 90 on five occasions, tying for third in the HL in offense at 77.0 ppg., - 85th in the nation.Â
TAKING ADVANTAGE
- Detroit Mercy has done a great job at the free throw line this season connecting on 128-of-168 for 76.2 percent, second in the HL and 45th in the country.
- The Titans started the year 18-of-22 at Virginia Tech and were 20-of-23 versus Seattle, 24-of-30 against Houston Baptist, 13-of-15 in the road win at Saint Louis and 20-of-25 their last time out at Fort Wayne
- Some of the top free throw shooters include Jermaine Jackson Jr. (96.0%, 24-of-25) Corey Allen (82.8%, 24-of-29), Josh McFolley (81.0%, 17-of-21), Roschon Price (78.9%, 15-of-19) and Kameron Chatman (78.3%, 18-of-23).Â
- In fact, Jackson Jr. leads the HL and is fifth in the nation in free throw shooting.
CHATMAN ON FIRE
- Redshirt junior Kameron Chatman continued his strong start to the season tallying a career-high 31 points and collecting 10 rebounds with three steals at Fort Wayne and led the team with 18 points and seven boards at UCLA.Â
- The game at Fort Wayne marked his fourth 20+-point game of the season as he was a career-best 11-of-15 from the field and 5-of-6 from behind the arc. It was also his second career double-double.Â
- After scoring just four points against Seattle on Nov. 18, he is averaging 22.4 ppg. and 10.2 rpg., in the last five games, shooting 51.9 percent (42-of-81) overall and 40.0 percent (12-of-30) from behind the arc.Â
- He is currently leading the team in scoring (19.5) - third in the HL and 63rd in the nation- and rebounding (8.6) - tops in the Horizon League and 78th in the country.Â
FRESHMAN RECORDS
- Freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr. has already established a pair of Titan freshman records with 13 assists and nine steals, achieved in the win over Siena Heights on Nov. 25.Â
- He broke the Titan freshman record of 10 assists by Bill Wood, who did it twice during the 1986-87 season, while the freshman steal record is believed to be five accomplished six times since 1981.Â
I SEE YOU CA
- Sophomore Corey Allen had a slow start to the season on offense, but he broke out in a big way at the 2K Sports Classic subregional at Belmont.Â
- Against Seattle, he tallied 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers.
- In the consolation game against Houston Baptist, he hit his first three triples and ended the game with a career-high and Curb Event Center record 39 points, surpassing the 33 he had at home against Fort Wayne last season.
- Allen - who was named to the All-Tournament Team - was a career-best 12-of-20 from the field and 7-of-13 from long range to go with five rebounds and career-tying five assists.Â
- The 39 points were the most by a Titan since teammate Jaleel Hogan had 39 in a road win at Oakland last year.
- On the season, he is second on the team in scoring at 17.3 points per game - fourth in the HL - shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 43.9 percent from three and 82.8 percent at the free throw line to go with 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.Â
MCFOLLEY LEADS THE WAY
- Junior Josh McFolley came into the Saint Louis game averaging just 8.0 points, but he broke out with 14 in the first half and finished with a season-high 22 in the road victory on Nov. 22.Â
- He totaled 15 points against Siena Heights connecting on another three triples and tying his career high with five steals and scored 12 points at Fort Wayne.Â
- It was the eighth 20-point game in McFolley's career and he now has 124 career 3-pointers, just 14 away from 10th in school history.Â
KAM'S THE MAN
- The Titans needed everyone's help to get the overtime victory over Houston Baptist on Nov. 19 and redshirt junior Kameron Chatman did his part posting his first career double-double with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
- His previous high in rebounds was nine as a freshman at Michigan against Syracuse, while it was the most boards by a Titan since Chris Jenkins had 16 against Fort Wayne last year.
- At Saint Louis on Nov. 22, he posted 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals, but his biggest play was the game-winning shot with just one second left on the clock.Â
- Against Siena Heights, he had 23 points and just missed another double-double ending with nine rebounds, three steals and two assists, while at Fort Wayne, he posted a career-high 31 points and pulled down 10 caroms.Â
JJJ FILLING UP THE STAT SHEET
- Rookie Jermaine Jackson Jr., posted stats all around as a true freshman on the road at Virginia Tech tallying 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists.
- The seven rebounds tied for the team lead, while his six defensive rebounds topped the team.Â
- He has now scored in double digits in seven of the eight games on the season and is third on the team averaging 12.8 points to go with a team-best 4.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals.Â
A HELPING HAND
- Detroit Mercy has registered at least 21 assists three times this season, including 22 against Houston Baptist - a day after having just four versus Seattle - and 36 in the triumph over Siena Heights.Â
- The 36 assists were the most since posting a school record 45 against Canisius in 1978.Â
- The Titans rank fourth in the Horizon League and 97th in the nation with 15.6 assists per game.Â
ALMOST A TRIPLE-DOUBLE
- Freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr., nearly had the first Titan triple-double since Terry Tyler in 1977 finishing with 16 points, a season-high 13 assists and nine steals against Siena Heights.
- The last Titan to have at least nine steals in a game was when Jerry Davis set a school record with 10 against John Carroll on Dec. 10, 1980, while the 13 assists by Jackson Jr. is the most since Feb. 10, 2000, when Rashad Phillips had 14 at Butler.
- The 13 assists are also tied for the eighth most in school history.Â
JALEEL REACHES 1,000
- With his second basket of the game at Fort Wayne, senior Jaleel Hogan became the 41st Titan in school history to post 1,000 points.
- Hogan enters today's game with 1,016 career points, which ranks 38th in school history, just eight shy of 37th.Â
UNSTOPPABLE
- Senior Jaleel Hogan led the Horizon League and was 23rd in the country in field-goal percentage at 59.1 percent - fourth in school history - last season.
- He entered his senior campaign second in school history in career field goal percentage at 58.9 percent, trailing only Eli Holman's 60.9 percent - but he is 29-of-47 (61.7%) on the season to raise his career mark to 59.1 percent.Â
- As a sophomore, he led the team and was second in the HL in field goal percentage at 57.4 percent - good for ninth in school history. He also shot 62.0 percent (62-of-100) as a freshman, but did not qualify for any records due not enough field goals attempted.Â
THE PRINCE OF DETROIT MERCY
- Graduate senior Roschon Prince has had a nice start to his Titan career scoring in double figures twice with 11 points against UM-Dearborn and Houston Baptist.
- He has grabbed at least five boards in three of the eight games with a season-high six against Seattle and is 15-of-28 from the field (53.6%) and 15-of-19 (78.9%) at the line.Â
WELCOME TO THE SHOW ISAIAH
- Senior Isaiah Jones finally made his collegiate debut after dealing with injuries the last two years.
- He has played in five of seven games this season and in three minutes of action at the season opener at Virginia Tech, he grabbed two rebounds and had a block. Against Houston Baptist, he scored his first collegiate points on a layup and versus Siena Heights, he had six points, three blocks and two boards.Â
- Jones injured his knee after his sophomore year at junior college and then missed the following season rehabbing. Last year, he reinjured his knee prior to the start of the season and missed the entire year.
JACK CAN BALL
- Freshman Jack Ballantyne made his first collegiate start at UCLA and that was a week after posting a season-high nine points and four rebounds against Siena Heights. In his collegiate debut, he knocked down a three at Virginia Tech midway through the first half that gave the Titans a 24-23 lead at the time.Â
- A 6-9, 240-lb forward was one of the top forward recruits in the state of Michigan ranking as high as No. 15 by Bank Hoops and receiving a number of Division I scholarship offers from schools in the ACC, Atlantic 10 and MAC.Â
- As a senior, he recorded 15.0 points and 13.0 rebounds and earned First Team All-MAC Red, First Team All-County, All-Area by the Detroit News as well as Honorable Mention All-State by the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press.
