Titan Alum Boissonneault Named to Final Team Canada Roster

DETROIT (2/1/2017) -- Former Titan women's lacrosse standout Emily Boissonneault has made the final, 18-player roster to represent Canada at the 2017 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup, held this summer in Guildford, England.

Boissonneault made the initial cut of 25 players in October and was announced to the final 18-player roster just last week. Boissonneault is one of the veteran members of the squad, having helped Team Canada to a silver medal in 2013.

Boissonneault is the Titans' all-time career leader in points with 272. She played in all seven games at midfield during Team Canada's run in the 2013 World Cup, finishing the tournament with five goals, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.

She was Detroit Mercy's President's Award winner during her senior season, received All-Conference accolades all four years and was named the National Lacrosse Conference Attacker of the Year during her freshman campaign in 2009. Boissonneault's name still appears in the NCAA Division I record books as she ranks 10th in career caused turnovers, 14th in career goals and 16th in career goals per game.

Boissonneault graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in English and Special Education. She is currently a women's lacrosse assistant coach at James Madison University after beginning her coaching career at Winthrop.
