Titans Return to Road Thursday Night in the Windy City

CHICAGO (2/15/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team will look to continue its winning ways on the road this weekend, beginning with Thursday night's contest at UIC in the Windy City. The opening tip is set for 8 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. CT. The game may be seen on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Applications. The Titans have won seven of their past eight contests in the 2016-17 campaign.

Last weekend, Detroit Mercy (10-3 HL) improved to 8-0 at home in league play for the first time since the 1996-97 season and just the third time ever with a 71-61 victory over rival Oakland on Saturday. The Titans won their third-straight over the Golden Grizzlies and second this season.

The Titans are 2-1 against the Flames under second-year head coach Bernard Scott, including scoring a season-high 98 points in a New Years Eve victory over UIC at Calihan Hall earlier in the HL season.

Titan News & Notes
• For the third time this season and second-straight, guard Anja Marinkovic was named the HL Freshman of the Week after recording her third-straight double-digit scoring effort (11 points) in a win over Oakland.
• Detroit Mercy is 8-0 in Horizon League home contests this season. Overall, the Titans are 9-2 at Calihan Hall. The 8-0 home mark is the best home league start since the 1996-97 squad had an 8-0 home mark on the year.
• The Titans have the second-highest RPI among HL teams at 138. Only Green Bay at No. 34 is higher.
• Rosanna Reynolds became the Titans career leader in assists vs. Milwaukee on Feb. 2, totaling eight dimes to surpass Jalesa Jones for No. 1 on the all-time list.
• Detroit Mercy is nearing the mark for the most 3-pointers made in one season (234), which was set last season in head coach Bernard Scott's first season as head coach. The Titans have 201 treys after 24 games.
• The Titans have shot 40-percent or better in 10 of 13 Horizon League games and rank second in Horizon League contests with a 45.3 FG percentage.
• With 10 more rebounds, Haleigh Ristovski would be the first player in school history with 800 points, 800 rebounds and 300 assists. She ranks 14th in the NCAA and leads the HL with a 2.81 assist-to-turnover ratio.
• Brianne Cohen ranks first in the HL and 17th in the NCAA with 58.2 FG percentage. In the last 10 games, Cohen is shooting 66.3 percent from the field (69-of-104). Cohen shot 9-of-10 at Green Bay, 9-of-11 vs. Cleveland State & 12-of-13 at NKU.
• In league play, the Titans lead the league in assists (17.8 apg), 3-point field goal percentage (35.8%), def. rebounding (28.8) and blocked shots (4.3 bpg). 
• The Titans are among the NCAA leaders in defensive rebounding (8th, 29.5 per game), 3-point field goals per game (17th, 8.4), assists per game (40th, 16.2), assist-to-turnover ratio (46th, 1.12) and scoring offense (58th, 72.0 ppg).
• Reynolds has the top-two assist totals this season in the Horizon League, tallying 11 vs. UIC and 12 at Milwaukee. Reynolds ranks second in the conference in total assists (129) and assists per game (5.4).
• Brianne Cohen (1st, 58.2) and Kelsey Mitchell (2nd, 57.9) are the top duo in the Horizon League in field goal percentage. The pair are 1-2 in HL-only games with both shooting over 63 percent.
• Senior Haleigh Ristovski is just eight rebounds back of fifth place all-time in rebounding. She has 790 rebounds and would be the fifth player all-time with 800 career rebounds with just 10 more caroms.
• Reynolds, who ranks 33rd in the nation in assists per game (5.4), reached 100 assists in the season for the fourth time in her career this season. Her career-best is 149 and she has 129 this season. Reynolds is 37th in the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.35).
• Brianne Cohen went over 900 career points against Oakland. She is just 85 points away from becoming the 21st player in school history with 1,000 career points.
• Detroit Mercy has assisted on nearly 70-percent (67.4) of its field goals in Horizon League play (232 assists on 344 field goals).
• Junior Nicole Urbanick is quickly moving up the all-time 3-pointers made list and ranks sixth with 182. She is second in the HL in 3-pointers made per game (2.5), sinking 59 in 23 games and has 12 games of three or more made triples.
• With one more start, Rosanna Reynolds would tie the record for most games started in Titan history (122).

Last Time Out
The Titans improved to 8-0 at home and won their second this season over Oakland in a 71-61 victory on Saturday at Calihan Hall. Detroit Mercy shot 51 percent after the first quarter and led by double-digits throughout most of the season half. With the victory, the Titans improved to 10-3 in the Horizon League and won their seventh in the past eight contests.

Detroit Mercy held Oakland to just five points in the first quarter and the Golden Grizzlies had just 18 halftime points with the Titans holding a 30-18 edge at the break. Detroit Mercy would up its advantage to 15 points in the fourth quarter to help put the game away.

Brianne Cohen led the Titans with 24 points, 16 of them coming in the first half. It was the sixth 20-point game of the season for Cohen. Rosanna Reynolds added 17 points, 15 of them after halftime. Haleigh Ristovski had 15 rebounds in the game, adding a team-best five dimes. It was the fourth 10-rebound game in the past six contests for Ristovski.

The Titans made their first 18 free throws in the game and finished with a 90-percent (18-of-20) shooting clip from the line. Detroit Mercy shot 40-percent or better for the 16th time this season.

All-Time Series
Detroit Mercy holds a 27-23 series lead against UIC in the all-time series that began in 1980. The Titans are 9-11 in true road games against the Flames. Detroit Mercy is 4-1 in the last five games against UIC, including 2-1 under coach Scott in the past two seasons.

Detroit Mercy earned a 22-point victory over the Flames earlier this season, scoring a season-high 98 points at home from Calihan Hall. Anja Marinkovic and Nicole Urbanick each poured in 20 points for the Titans as the pair combined to go 9-of-13 from downtown in the game. As a team, Detroit Mercy made 15 triples and shot 54.1 percent from the field in the first meeting.

Last season, Detroit Mercy went 1-1 against the Flames under coach Scott. The Titans won, 89-80, on the road with Urbanick totaling 31 points, sinking seven 3-pointers and Reynolds scoring 26 points for the Titans. Cohen was the third member in doubles with 20 points in the road victory on Jan. 9, 2016.
