Titans Visit Penguins on Saturday in Regular-Season Finale

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (2/24/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team closes out the regular season on Saturday, visiting Youngstown State for a 12 p.m. ET contest from the Beeghly Center. The game may be seen on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Applications.

Detroit Mercy (15-13, 11-6 HL) sits in fourth place in the Horizon League standings, just a half-game back of Milwaukee (11-5 HL) with the Panthers playing on Friday. The Titans can finish anywhere from third to fifth in the Horizon League in the final weekend of the regular season. Detroit Mercy is locked into playing on the third day of the Motor City Madness tournament, on Sunday, March 5 at Joe Louis Arena.

Junior forward Brianne Cohen is just 11 points shy of 1,000 in her Titan career. She has 989 points entering Saturday's game at Youngstown State.

Titan News & Notes
• Detroit Mercy finished 9-0 in Horizon League home contests this season. Overall, the Titans went 10-2 at Calihan Hall. The 9-0 home mark was the best home league record since the 1996-97 squad went 8-0.
• The Titans clinched their second-straight winning season under head coach Bernard Scott. Detroit Mercy has a 15-13 record with one game left in the regular season. The Titans went 15-15 last season in coach Scott's first season at the helm of the Titans.
• Junior Brianne Cohen is just 11 points shy of becoming the 21st player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau. She has 989 career points.
• The Titans have 113 blocks on the season, which is the second-straight season of 100 blocks or more under head coach Bernard Scott. The 113 rejections is the most in a season since the 1996-97 campaign.
• Senior Rosanna Reynolds made her 123rd consecutive start in her career in Detroit Mercy's game at Valpo, becoming the all-time leader in game starts. Between Reynolds (125) and fellow senior Haleigh Ristovski (99), the pair have made 224 starts in their careers. The duo have started the past 88 games for Detroit Mercy.
• Haleigh Ristovski became the first player in school history with 800 points, 800 rebounds and 300 assists after recording 15 rebounds at Valparaiso. She moved into fourth place in career rebounding (829), passing former Titan Cassandra Pack on Thursday.
• Brianne Cohen ranks first in the HL and 12th in the NCAA with 60.4 FG percentage. Cohen is 16-for-18 in her past two games and has a 65.1 percent shooting percentage (112-for-172) in league games.
• Detroit Mercy is nearing the mark for the most 3-pointers made in one season (234), which was set last season in head coach Bernard Scott's first season as head coach. The Titans have 222 treys after 28 games.
• The Titans lead the Horizon League with 282 assists and 16.6 assists per game in conference play.
• Rosanna Reynolds became the Titans career leader in assists vs. Milwaukee on Feb. 2, totaling eight dimes to surpass Jalesa Jones for No. 1 on the all-time list.
• Haleigh Ristovski is in the top 25 in the country in two statistical categories -- No. 12 in defensive rebounding (7.4) and No. 21 in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.62).
• Reynolds has the top-two assist totals this season in the Horizon League, tallying 11 vs. UIC and 12 at Milwaukee. Reynolds ranks second in the conference in total assists (143) and assists per game (5.1).
• The Titans are among the NCAA leaders in defensive rebounding (17th, 29.4 per game), 3-point field goals per game (29th, 7.9), assists per game (51st, 15.6), assist-to-turnover ratio (50th, 1.11) and scoring offense (69th, 70.7 ppg).
• Brianne Cohen (1st, 60.4) and Kelsey Mitchell (2nd, 57.4) are the top duo in the Horizon League in field goal percentage. The pair are 1-2 in HL-only games with both shooting over 63 percent.
• Reynolds, who ranks 44th in the nation in assists per game (5.1), reached 100 assists in the season for the fourth time in her career this season. Her career-best is 149 and she has 143 this season.
• Junior Nicole Urbanick is quickly moving up the all-time 3-pointers made list and ranks sixth with 186. She is tied-for-second in the HL in triples made per game (2.3).
• Haleigh Ristovski is tied for the league lead in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.6 (89 assists, 34 turnovers).

Last Time Out
The Titans dropped a 75-50 road contest at Cleveland State on Thursday. Junior forward Brianne Cohen scored a team-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, moving closer to the 1,000-point plateau in her Titan career.

Haleigh Ristovski grabbed eight rebounds, moving into fourth place all-time in career rebounding with 829 boards. The Titans totaled six blocks in the game, two by Cohen and two by Haleigh Ristovski, who moved into sixth place on the career list with 92. The Titans shot 33.3 percent in the game, including 4-for-28 from beyond the 3-point arc.

All-Time Series
The Titans are 22-18 all-time against Youngstown State in the series dating back to 1983. The Titans are 7-13 in games played in Youngstown. Detroit Mercy is 2-1 in the past two seasons under head coach Bernard Scott. The Titans earned an 80-63 victory over YSU on Jan. 20 with Detroit Mercy hitting 10, 3-pointers in the win.

Rosanna Reynolds scored a game-high 24 points, adding 11 rebounds and six assists. Brianne Cohen posted 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the triumph. Brittney Jackson tied her career-high with four 3-pointers and 12 points. 

The Titans earned a one-point win at YSU last season with Haleigh Ristovski sinking a lay-up with 1.1 second left for the 69-68 victory. Cohen went 7-of-8 from the field and scored 21 points off the bench in the game.

Scouting Youngstown State
The Penguins are coming off an 80-58 loss at home to Oakland on Thursday. YSU is 9-19 overall and 5-12 in HL play entering the regular-season finale on Saturday. Youngstown State is 7-7 in home games at the Beeghly Center this season and are wrapping up the regular season with four-straight at home before the Motor City Madness tournament in Detroit.

Freshman forward Mary Dunn led the Penguins with 14 points in the loss. She leads all HL freshmen in scoring at 11.4 points per game, which ranks 16th overall in the league. Sophomore guard Alison Smolinski leads the team in scoring at 12.3 points per game and has made a league-leading 2.9 triples per game. She has sank 76, 3-pointers on the year. Point guard Indiya Benjamin leads the Penguins and the HL in assists with 153.

YSU is first in the Horizon League in 3-pointers made per game at 8.5, sinking 238 total on the season. The Penguins are sixth in the HL in scoring offense (67.7).
