Day 1 Recap
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (2/26/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team placed in five events on the final day of the Horizon League Indoor Championships from Watson and Tressel Training Site.
The Titans finished sixth in the standings after earning 20 points on Sunday.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Titans received points in five events – the 400m (Dozier), mile (Fetherolf), 4x400m (Dent, Dozier, Mullen, Vizard), triple jump (Brundige) and shot put (Bayles).
- Sophomore Kye Dozier earned a point after taking eighth in the 400m with a time of 60.82.
- Junior Sydnie Fetherolf took fifth in the mile with a PR of 5:03.78.
- The 4x4 team of Jayona Dent, Dozier, Elizabeth Mullen and Natalie Vizard took fourth with a time of 3:54.09.
- Freshman Lynda Brundige finished fourth in the triple jump after clearing 11.50m (37'8.75").
- Senior Ashley Bayles took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.18m (43'3"). The place gives her two top fives on the weekend, the other coming on Saturday in the weight throw.
STANDINGS
The Youngstown State women made it a clean sweep for the Penguins over the weekend, claiming the title with 183 points. Milwaukee finishes runner-up with 140 points, followed closely by Oakland with 138. Northern Kentucky finishes fourth with 70 points, followed by Wright State with 53 and the Titans with 36. Valpo took seventh with 23 points, while UIC and Cleveland State finished eighth and ninth.
