Ristovski Earns Horizon League All-Academic Honors

INDIANAPOLIS (3/2/2017) -- Senior Haleigh Ristovski (Sterling Heights, Mich. / University Liggett) was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team for the third time in her career Thursday with the league announcing the five-member squad for the 2016-17 season.

The award is voted on by the Faculty Athletic Representatives from each Horizon League school. Ristovski was joined on the team by Oakland's Nicole Dodd and Taylor Gleason, Green Bay's Mehryn Kraker and Milwaukee's Steph Kostowicz. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.

The senior co-captain is a standout in the classroom and has a 3.99 GPA in Accounting and is enrolled in the five-year MBA program at the University.

Ristovski started all 29 games for the Titans during the regular season and led the squad in rebounding at 8.0 boards per game. She led the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.58) and ranked second on the Titans in assists (93) and steals (43), and third in blocked shots (23). Ristovski currently ranks in the top 25 in the NCAA in both assist-to-turnover ratio and defensive rebounding (7.5 per game).

She quickly moved up the record books in rebounds this season and is fourth all-time with 841 career boards, just five behind former Titan standout Lisa Blackburn for third place all-time. She ranks sixth in career blocks (93), 10th in 3-pointers made (147) and 11th in assists all-time (331). Ristovski also became the eighth Titan in school history to start in 100 career games in the regular-season finale at YSU.

Detroit Mercy is busy preparing for the 2017 Little Caesars Horizon League Championship and opens up play Sunday, March 5 at noon against sixth-seeded Cleveland State from Joe Louis Arena. Tickets for the contest may be found by visiting motorcitymadness.horizonleague.com.
