DETROIT (4/11/2017) -- The end of the 2016-17 basketball season was last week with North Carolina claiming the championship and with the end of the year came the final statistics.
The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team saw three players lead the Horizon League in four different categories.
Freshman
Corey Allen topped the Horizon League and was fourth in the NCAA Division I in three-point field goal percentage at 44.8 percent, which was second in school history. He was also third in the league and 78th in the nation with 2.60 three-point field goals per game and his 78 triples on the season were third in the conference and eighth in school history on the all-time single-season list
Sophomore
Josh McFolley ended the year leading the conference in steals per game (2.00) and total steals (62), ranking 26th and 35th in the NCAA, respectively. His 62 total steals were also sixth in school history.Â
Junior
Jaleel Hogan topped the Horizon League and was 23rd in the country in field-goal percentage at 59.1 percent, fourth in school history. His 2.8 offensive rebounds per game was also third in the league and 79th in the nation.Â
The Titans had four players finish in the top 20 in scoring as Hogan was eighth (15.2), Allen 11th (14.4), McFolley 13th (13.8) and senior
Chris Jenkins tied for 20th (11.6).
Jenkins was also fifth in free throw percentage (82.7%), tied for sixth in rebounding (6.7) and ninth with five double-doubles.Â
Hogan was 11th on the boards (5.8) and tied for fourth in blocks (1.0), while McFolley ended the campaign tied for 12th in assists (3.0) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1).
As a team, the Titans were second in the HL and 73rd in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage (37.2%), third in the conference and 54th overall in turnovers forced (14.71) as well as fourth in the league and 87th in the country in scoring (77.0).Â
