VALPARAISO, Ind. (4/23/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-2 win on the road in Horizon League action at Valparaiso University from the Valpo Tennis Complex on Sunday morning.
The Titans clinch the four-seed in the Horizon League Tournament next weekend after a squad navigated through conference play with a 6-3 league record. Detroit Mercy is likely to face Oakland in the first round of the HL Tourney.
Seniors
Anna Davydova and
Nynke Van Der Goot led the way for the Titans as the duo won at No. 2 doubles and in individual matches at Nos. 1 and 4, respectively.

Pauline Van Herck taking No. 3, 6-1, and Davydova and Van Der Goot taking No. 2, 6-3.
Davydova won at No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3, Van Der Goot did the same in 6-3 and 6-2 from No. 4 and Van Herck followed at No. 5 in 6-4 and 6-2.
Sophomore
Iris Thioux picked up the Titans fifth point after outlasting Meg Modesto at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 2-6 and 6-3.
The Titans will look to carry the momentum into the Horizon League Tournament that begins on Friday, Apr. 28 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
