"We had a slow start and just could never recover," said head coach

Thompson finished the event with a 234 (77-76-81) putting in 10 pars in her final round. She led the team with five birdies and tied for first with 28 pars, while also finishing in the top 10 in the field in par 3 (+1, 3.08) and par 4 (+11, 4.37) average.
It was the third time in her career that she tallied a top-10 finish at the Horizon League Championship as she ended the season with eight top-20 efforts and five top-10 finishes. She also ended a great career that saw her finish second in school history with a 79.08 average, including three of the top six single-season averages.
"It was a very emotional day for Sarah and all the seniors," said coach Ryan. "She has been one of the best golfers in our school's history as well as the Horizon League and it was emotional for her to see it come to an end."
Shaw had her best round of the tournament and the team's best round on Tuesday with a 77 to finish with a 240 (80-83-77). Her round included 11 pars and a birdie and her 27 pars was third on the team.

Sarah Montone was right behind her in 35th with a 256 (92-78-86). Montone also tied for the team lead with 28 pars.
"I can't say enough about the senior class. They all improved and worked so hard every day and they are tremendous student-athletes on and off the golf course. They are the exact kind of individuals we want in this program and at Detroit Mercy," added coach Ryan.
