Reynolds Realizes Professional Basketball Dream, Inks Contract in Scotland

DETROIT (8/16/2017) -- Following a standout collegiate basketball career at the University of Detroit Mercy, Rosanna Reynolds is set to realize her dream of playing professional basketball. The three-time All-Horizon League honoree has signed with the Caledonia Pride, located in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Reynolds heads over to Scotland later this month to prepare for the upcoming 2017-18 season, which begins in early October. The Canton, Mich. native and Co-President's Award winner this past school year, Reynolds is excited for the opportunity to continue to play basketball.

"It's been my goal for awhile now to be able to go overseas and play professionally and with finally signing a contract it's an exciting feeling," Reynolds said. "I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates and coaches and continuing to enhance my skills and learn from others.

"Scotland is a beautiful place and I'm excited to live in a new area for the year. I can't wait to play! I can't thank coach Scott and his staff enough for helping me get there, as well as my agent!"

The Pride play out of the 11-team Womens' British Basketball League (WBBL), which was founded in 2014.

Reynolds is the first Titan women's basketball alum to sign to play overseas since former teammates Yar Shayok (France, 2013), Demeisha Fambro (Portugal, 2013) and Senee Shearer (Poland, 2014).

Reynolds is the first professional player to sign a contract in head coach Bernard Scott's Detroit Mercy tenure.

"I'm so happy for Rosie! She has put in a lot of work and hours on making herself the best basketball player she can be," Scott said. "She deserves this opportunity and I'm sure she will help them win a lot of games like she did here at Detroit Mercy."

Reynolds, a two-year co-captain, just recently graduated with a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University after receiving her undergraduate degree just a year before. She finished her career first all-time in assists with 552 and third in career scoring with 1,745 points. Reynolds also started all 129 games in her career which ranks No. 1 in Detroit Mercy women's basketball history.

During her senior season, she ranked fifth in the Horizon League in scoring (16.2 points per game), second in assists (4.9 per game) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.26). She helped lead the Titans to the Horizon League Championship game and was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team.

She was the first player in Titan history with 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. She was just recently inducted into the Detroit Catholic League Hall of Fame in June and was just the second player in school history to earn three All-League laurels. Reynolds was First Team All-Horizon League in each of the past two seasons after coming back from injury.

Reynolds was named the Co-Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Season during her junior year and was the only Horizon League men's or women's basketball student-athlete to earn a nomination as a Senior Class Award candidate during 2016-17.
