DETROIT (1/10/2018) -- The Titans are back on the road this week, traveling for a pair of contests beginning with a Thursday night contest at Horizon League newcomer IUPUI. The opening tip is set for 7 p.m. from The Jungle on the campus of IUPUI.

It's the first meeting between the two programs in women's basketball. IUPUI, the current leader atop the standings at 3-0, joined the Horizon League for all sports prior to the 2017-18 academic school year.

Anja Marinkovic and
Nicole Urbanick continued their double-figure scoring streaks as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell 88-60 to Wright State at Calihan Hall on Saturday.
Jackson scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting, while Marinkovic tallied 19 points and Urbanick posted 15 points and team-bests with six rebounds and four assists for Detroit Mercy. The Titans shot 19-of-57 (33 percent) for the game, including 7-of-21 from the outside.
It was the third-straight games that Urbanick and Marinkovic were both in double figures for the Titans.
Detroit Mercy shot the ball well from the free throw line during the contest, sinking 15-of-20 (75 percent) from the foul line. The Titans also had just three turnovers in the final three quarters of the game.
Scouting IUPUI
The Jaguars are 3-0 on the young Horizon League season, opening with league wins over UIC, Cleveland State and Youngstown State -- all on the road.
IUPUI has played most of its 2017-18 so far away from home, playing just three home contests entering Thursday's game against the Titans. The Jaguars are 2-1 in home games this season and 11-3 overall.
IUPUI's losses this season have come against UCF, Miami (Ohio) and Depaul. It's a stretch of three games in five days for the Jaguars, who also welcome in Oakland for a Saturday contest before hosting Green Bay on Monday.
The Jaguars are led in scoring by Danielle Lawrence, who is averaging 16.4 points per game, which also ranks in the top-five in the Horizon League. Freshman Macee Williams adds 11.7 points per game, while also leading the team in rebounding (8.0 boards per contest). She is shooting 68.1 percent on the season. Three other players average better than 8.0 points.
As a team, IUPUI is shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 72.8 percent from the foul line. The Jaguars are out-scoring their opponents by 14.0 points per game so far this season.

It's the first meeting between the two programs in women's basketball. IUPUI joined the Horizon League prior to the 2017-18 school year after departing the Summit League. The Jaguars had been with the Summit League since rising to NCAA Division I in 1998.
