DETROIT (1/5/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team welcomes Horizon League foe Wright State to Calihan Hall for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday. The game is set to be streamed live on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Applications with
Denny Kapp calling all of the action.
It's the second game in three days at home for the Titans. Detroit Mercy returns to the road next weekend, visiting league newcomer IUPUIÂ and UIC.

Senior guard
Nicole Urbanick became the 22nd player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau in a career, scoring 12 points at Cleveland State on Dec. 30. She reached the milestone on a tough, left-handed lay-up with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter against the Vikings. Urbanick is the third Titan in the past three seasons to go over the 1,000 career points plateau.
Detroit Mercy and Wright State are meeting for the 53rd time in women's basketball with the Titans holding a 28-24 series lead over the Raiders. Detroit Mercy earned a 2-1 record last season, winning at home, 85-80, before defeating WSU in the Horizon League Championship semifinals, 71-52, at Joe Louis Arena.
Sophomore guard
Anja Marinkovic turned in a Detroit Mercy season-best with 23 points, connecting on five 3-pointers against Northern Kentucky on Thursday. It was her eighth career 20-point scoring effort. Marinkovic has nine 3-pointers in her past two games and is up to 30 treys on the season (fourth in the Horizon League).

Brianne Cohen and
Nicole Urbanick also scored in double figures, but the Titans fell 78-67 to visiting Northern Kentucky on Thursday.
Marinkovic scored 17 of her 23 points in the second half, connecting on five 3-pointers overall and adding a season-best four assists. Cohen tallied her third career double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while Urbanick posted 10 points and a team-best five assists.
Detroit Mercy made 12 shots from beyond the arc, one shy of its season high, and had 16 assists, the second-best single-game total of the season. The Titans shot 38 percent from the floor (21-of-55) and 43 percent from behind the 3-point arc (12-of-28).
It was the third time this season that Detroit Mercy has made 12 or more 3-pointers in a contest. The 16 assists were also the second most of the season.
Zoey Oatis and
Ashley Miller each scored five points for the Titnas in their first collegiate starts.
Scouting Wright State
The Raiders enter Saturday's contest with a 2-1 Horizon League record after securing a pair of victories over Milwaukee (56-51) and most recently at Oakland (77-57). WSU's lone HL loss of the season so far came at home to #19-ranked Green Bay by a 58-51 margin. Wright State's other three losses are to #23-Missouri, Providence and Georgia. The Raiders are ranked No. 14 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.
Senior Chelsea Welch, the Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year, leads the league in scoring at 21.4 points per game and assists with 76. She is averaging 5.1 assists per game entering Saturday's contest. It's a balanced starting lineup with each player averaging 8.8 points per game or better.
Junior guard Emily Vogelpohl averages 11.0 points and 6.9 boards per game, while forwards Lexi Smith (9.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg) and Symone Simmons (8.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg) are key contributors from the front court.
Wright State leads the Horizon League in scoring offense (77.9 ppg), scoring margin (+17.2), 3-point field goal percentage (35.8), assists (15.6 per game) and rebounding offense (41.3 per game), among other caterogies.

Detroit Mercy is 28-24 all-time against Wright State, which includes a 3-2 mark under head coach
Bernard Scott. The Titans earned an 85-80 victory on Senior Day last year from Calihan Hall before knocking off the No. 2 seeded Raiders, 71-52, in the HL semifinals on March 6.
The Titans are 14-11 in games all-time from Calihan Hall and 1-1 under coach Scott.
Titans Turn in Strong Classroom Performance
The Titans earned a 3.34 GPA as a team during the fall semester and as a squad, maintain a 3.22 cumulative GPA. Ten (10) members of the team recorded a GPA of 3.0, with six of those earning a 3.5 GPA or better.
It's the third-straight semester that Detroit Mercy has earned a GPA of 3.0 or better and fourth semester out of five under head coach
Bernard Scott that the Titans have turned in a term GPA of 3.0 or better.
