The Friends of the Titans is a group that believes in wide-based support of UDM Athletics and serves as a catalyst for the revitalization of Detroit. An exciting Division I college basketball program has a positive impact towards the continuing growth of our region.
OUR VISION is to garner support for UDM’s nineteen Division I varsity sports while also continuing to create positive visibility for the city. To merge the revitalization of Detroit and its many treasures with the rejuvenation of UDM’s basketball teams.

Inaugural Titan Student Mentoring Program
In the summer of 2011, Detroit athletics partnered with a number of sponsors - Charter One Bank, Compuware Corporation, Continental Services, Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Henry Ford Health System, Hollingsworth Logistics, Quicken Loans, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and Torre & Bruglio – to help give Titan student-athletes “real-world” experiences through employment.
Some of the goals of the program include:
* Prepare student-athletes for post-collegiate employment by creating business contacts
* Create new opportunities for student-athletes and the University
* Improve UDM overall student-athletes experiences
* Strengthen relationships with Metro Detroit business communities
Some of the basic requirements of the program include:
* Student-athletes and employer sign a contract outlining expectations
* Orientation session with student-athletes on behavior, attire, and general work policies and procedures
* Set goals and work requirements for student-athletes
While the inaugural program is starting with select student-athletes from the men’s and women’s basketball programs, one of the goals is for more businesses and opportunities to arise for student-athletes in all 19 UDM varsity sports.
