DETROIT (1/27/23) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's fencing team travels to South Bend, Indiana for the 2023 Notre Dame DeCicco Duals Saturday, Jan. 28 for their third dual meet of the season.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. eastern as Detroit Mercy battles with Wayne State.
Day one of the DeCicco Duals will also feature Cleveland State, Lawrence, Denison, Florida, Northwestern, and Notre Dame. Of the group, Detroit Mercy has already crossed paths with three of the teams they will see on Saturday; Cleveland State, Lawrence, and Denison.
The host Fighting Irish are currently ranked fourth in NCAA for Season Performance Index (SPI), which leads the field on day one of the dual meet.
Last Time Out
The Titans hosted their annual Titans Invitational Duals from Calihan Hall; welcoming in Michigan, Michigan State, and Cleveland State.
Facing Michigan State in round one,
Paul Rider scored two wins in Epee at 5-4 and 5-3, while
Bryce Sturgis notched 5-2 and 5-3 wins.
Peter Swanney finished off the round in Epee with a 5-1 decisive win to give Detroit Mercy the overall win over the Spartans in the men's Epee.
In round three against Michigan,
Jaylin Brown and
Nathan Wodwaski picked up wins in the men's foil each by 5-2 decisions.
DeCicco Duals
Detroit Mercy will participate in day one of the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals. The schedule of rounds is as follows:
Round One - Titans vs Wayne State
Round Two - Titans vs Florida
Round Three - Titans vs Northwestern
Round Four - Cleveland State
Round Five - Titans vs Notre Dame
Round Six - Titans vs Denison
Round Seven - Titans vs Lawrence
