Just this past Sunday, the two programs teamed up to clean up the mile stretch of McNichols Road that separates the two campuses. Wearing gloves and coming prepared with rakes and trash bags, the Titans and Mustangs gave back to the local community with a little spring cleaning in the fall. For a full recap and photo gallery,

Detroit is coming off a championship season in 2012-13 as the red, white and blue won the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI), the first postseason tournament victory for the Titans since they captured the State-Large College Tournament in 1981. UDM finished with 21 wins, including a school record 16 home triumphs tying for the second most in the country.Â
The Titans will feature a 13-man roster this year with six letter winners joining seven newcomers, with six of those freshmen. Two seniors headline the roster in forward
Megan Hatter and
Senee Shearer and also back is sophomore
Rosanna Reynolds, a member of the 2013 Horizon League All-Newcomer Team. Redshirt Sophomore
Brie Wilcox and sophomores
DaVonna Bradford and
Tayelor McCalister are also back with experience playing on the court, while junior
Ellisha Crosby practiced with the team all of last season as she had to sit out due to NCAA Transfer rules.Â
The closest rival in terms of distance to the Titans, Marygrove is located just 0.9 miles down the road from the University of Detroit Mercy. The two programs have played before with UDM posting a 68-27 win during the regular season on Dec. 27, 2010. The 27 points allowed were the second fewest in school history, behind only the 17 Detroit yielded in an 83-17 triumph over Madonna on Feb. 22, 1978.
The Mustangs are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and are members of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). They have 20 players on their roster with 15 newcomers, but do return senior Ciara Moore who avearged 12.5 points per game a year ago.Â
The two teams met last year in the exhibition season with Detroit storming past the Mustangs, 125-35.Â
Detroit is 6-1 in exhibition games under head coach Autumn Rademacher, with its lone loss in her very first preseason game against Wayne State in 2008. Coach Rademacher in now in her sixth year at the helm of her alma mater with her 83 wins ranking third in school history, just 10 away from the top spot.
