DETROIT (5/24/2013) -- It has been a busy two weeks for the women's basketball team as the Titans inked their second recruit in the spring with the announcement that
Lizzy Connors (Waukesha, Wis./ Waukesha West) has decided to attend UDM. Just like the signing of
Tayla Gibb (Toronto, Ont./Eastern Commerce C.I.) last week, Connors will enter the University as a freshman in the fall.
“Lizzy is a long, left-handed, athletic perimeter player who will thrive in our up tempo style of play,” said head coach Autumn Rademacher. “She is extremely fast in the open floor, makes great decisions, and can shoot from anywhere.”
Connors earned a pair of varsity letters in basketball and three in soccer starring for Waukesha West. As a senior on the hardwood, she helped the Wolverines to their best season in school history finishing with 19 wins and a WIAA regional championship - the first in school history – as well their first-ever sectional appearance. In the regional championship game, she lit up the scoreboard with a career-high 26 points against Germantown.
The 5-11 combo guard/forward was her team's Offensive Player of the Year and was tabbed Second Team All-Conference after averaging 12.0 points and shooting 43% from the field, while tallying 44 steals and 16 blocks.
She was also All-Tournament at the 2012 Redwing Invitational and is a three-year member of one of the top AAU teams in the state in the Wisconsin Lakers.
“She is best described as a “gym rat” and has an incredible work ethic and is an outstanding student intending to major in pre-med. We are very excited to add Lizzy and her family to the Detroit Titans women's basketball program,” added Coach Rademacher.
Connors is now part of a talented five-member signing class for the Titans joining Gibb as a spring signee and
Minisha Frederick-Childress (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato East), Megan Galloway (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) and
Haleigh Ristovski (Sterling Heights Mich./University Liggett), who all committed to UDM in the fall.
