DETROIT (8/8/2016) -- Former Titan standout
Eli Holman is coming off another terrific season playing professionally overseas in China. This summer, he stopped by Calihan Hall to chat with the staff and players and DetroitTitans.com caught up with him.
What Has It Been Like Playing Professionally Overseas?
It has been great. To be able to travel to different places, different countries and see different cultures has been an unbelievable experience. I have been in China the last two years and have learned to speak the language so it has been an overall great experience.
Could You Ever Imagine Playing Professionally When You Were A Kid?
When you are that young, it never even crossed my mind. You only think about the NBA and never about the other places that you could play. To be able to play professionally a game that I love, provide for my family and give back to my community and University is such a blessing.
How Often Do You Get To Follow The Titans?
I do my best. There is a big time difference, but I follow online, on the website and try to watch the games online. I do my best from afar, but the Titans are still a big part of my life.
What Do You Remember The Most About Your Time As A Titan?
Obviously winning the championship. We came together as a team and beat Valparaiso on their floor so that is a great memory. On the court was basketball, but off the court, it is about all the friendships. The relationships I have with all my teammates and even the staff here. It is great to come here and see guys like
Mike Miller and
Nick Wilson, two guys who really helped me stay healthy and keep my body in shape to get to where I am now.
Do You Still Keep In Contact With Your Former Teammates?
All the time. Ray McCallum, LaMarcus Lowe, Donavan Foster, Chase Simon, and so many others. We still all keep in contact on social media.
What Community Efforts With Your Foundation "Team Holman" Are You Most Proud Of?
Helping the children. Just trying to help young men and women anyway I can. It doesn't always have to be through basketball, a lot is academically and seeing them grow.
What Do You Know About New Head Coach Bacari Alexander?
I have met him and talked to him when I have been on campus. I am very impressed and excited to see where he can take this program and how he can lead these Titans.
What Are Your Future Plans?
Just keep training and we will see what the future brings.
