SOUTH BEND, IN. (1/30/23) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's fencing team took down Northwestern in the third round of the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals on Saturday by an 11-5 score.
For the day,
Bryce Sturgis led the Titans with six bout wins followed by
Paul Rider with five wins.
In round two against Florida, Sturgis and Rider picked up two wins apiece; Sturgis by 5-4 decisions and Rider scored 5-4 and 5-3 wins.
In round three against Northwestern, Sturgis and Rider each added two more wins to their totals while
Peter Swanney added a 5-1 win as Detroit Mercy won the epee and the round against the Wildcats.
Round six saw four Titans register a win as Sturgis, Rider, Swanney, and
Jaylin Brown all picked up wins led by Swanney and Sturgis with two each.
The Titans' final round of the day saw them take on Lawrence.
Nathan Wodwaski picked up a win to end his day by a 5-4 decision.

Following the DeCicco Duals, the red, white, and blue will head to the Northwestern Duals from Evanston, Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 5 from Ryan Fieldhouse.
