Detroit Mercy Titans Hall of Fame
McCotter was one of the most versatile two-way football players in the history of U-D football. He closed out his career at offensive guard and linebacker, but in his three years with the Titans he also played quarterback, fullback, receiver, and placekicker. He was a unanimous choice for All-Missouri Valley Conference and also earned honorable mention All-American honors. He made the All-Catholic and All-American team and was named U-D’s most valuable player his senior season after leading U-D to a co-championship in the MVC. He was also named the U-D “Athlete of the Year” in 1954.
