Banonis was a center and the captain of the 1941 Titans. He was Detroit’s first All-American lineman before graduating and was captain of the College All-Star Team which faced the NFL champions in their annual game. He played on three NFL Championship teams, with the Chicago Cardinals in 1947 and the Detroit Lions in both 1952 and 1953. Vince's professional career included a 1947 World Championship with the Cardinals as well as two more titles with the Lions. He was an inductee in both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
