Detroit Mercy Titans Hall of Fame
John Long received All-America honors in 1978, his senior season and helped lead the Titans to 86 victories in four years, an NCAA Tournament berth in 1977 and the NIT in 1978. Long was an outstanding outside shooter while also having the skills to score inside as well. He was a starter in each of his college seasons and the first Titan ever to lead the team in scoring four straight years. He was the first Detroit player ever to score more than 2,000 points in a career and finished his playing days with 2,167 points in 110 games, a 19.7 average. Long was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1978 in the 2nd round playing 893 career games with the Pistons, Indiana, Atlanta, and Toronto.
