Marchibroda led the nation in total offense as a quarterback with 1,813 yards passingĀ in 1952. He set the national single-game mark with 390 yards passing against Tulsa that same year. He left U-D holding 12 school passing records and was the number one draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1952. He is in the Indianapolis Colts' Hall of Fame, had two stints as the head coach of the franchise. He coached the Baltimore Colts from 1975-79, leading the team to three straight AFC East titles (1975-77), and was rehired by the franchise in 1992 and stayed for four seasons. He returned to Baltimore and coached the Ravens from 1996-98, making him the only person to serve as the head coach for both Baltimore teams. Marchibroda was the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills when they instituted the renowned K-Gun offense for quarterback Jim Kelly, running back Thurman Thomas and receivers Andre Reed and James Lofton.
