Detroit Mercy Titans Hall of Fame
At 7-2, the 1960 team has the most wins ever for a U-D football team of the post World War II era. The team was coached by Jim Miller. Following a season-opening loss to Iowa State, the Titans ran off seven straight victories over Xavier, Cincinnati, Boston College, Dayton, Quantico Marines, Marquette, and Villanova. The Titan roster was dotted with the likes of eventual NFL players Jerry Gross, Bruce Maher, Steve Stonebreaker, and Larry Vargo.
